Ok. I'll pull the airbox again and take a look before ordering.

The Kleen air mod is done on this bike.

I did the voltage check on the TPS, but everyone keeps saying that so it might be the cuprit.

Dam! That **** is $116 dollars too!!
yeah thats why we said to check the other **** first, jtake it from people who have went thru this. yo Dan where you guys at?

Sorry dude, I don't think I could ever sell this bike. It belonged to my friend Reed (Noxen) who died on his other bike this past Easter. It holds alot of sentimental value.

He wasn't the best with maintenance tho, I can tell you that!

On the streets, if am riding normally, and downshift through the gears coming to a light with the clutch in, it will want to stall if I don't blurp the throttle.

Trying to circle on idle is terrible, especially if you come from slowing a wheelie down to dipping it in, there is no idle pull to keep you going. I never know where the idle is going to be.

It has 30k plus miles on it. Runs strong otherwise. Absolutely rips compared to my f4i, but the idle problem is pissing me off.

Also, when it is hot, it won't start unless you give it some gas when you are hitting the starter button. Its weird, kinda like it is carbed or somethin.

It does have the clean air mod installed.

Any insight or advice would be appreciated.

ok just like dan said this is just like waht we fixed on his bikes this is the way to figure out your issue

at the top of the head you have 2 ports for hoses that are for the Kleen air reed valves the hoses connect to a T that the 3rd end goes to the right side of air box and one last small hose going to throttle bodies.

ok now that youve located the T unplug it from air box and blow into it and suck on it its a one way check valve so it should only allow one . if its just open both was best option is just connect that hose and the crankcase vest hose togehter and basically you just did a clean a mod.(must seal hose ports at airbox)

this can also cause the issue on the right side of the throttle bodies there is the servo motor and sense of the secondary throttle valves( green and gray harness plugs if im not mistaken) below that is the tps (i think its the black) replace that sensor with another one or just complete throttle bodie swap.
when you swap the sensor leave the cables attached to the bodies because you have to pull the throttle to wide open to install sensor

also the sensors arent always bad some times they are just not adjusted right the bolt hole is oblong to set it but they will mostly all come marked with a green paint marker from factory set in that same line

ok last thing you said it has high miles how high is high??
and how is the throttle response?? laged?? if so you my just need to sync your throttle bodies if they are really out of wack they can cause really random problems

while your at it its always good to have a clean air filter and fresh plugs 636's have a bad bog if plugs arent right

hope this helps if not hit me or dan up we'll get it figured out for you plus i have most parts so let me know if you need something

Re: Inconsistant Idle on 03 636

The bike did sit, but I have run two full tanks through it.

I'm gonna pull off the airbox tonight again I guess, and start over. Thanks everyone for the advice and help.

if it does this its plugs is its inconsistent all the time not just when its under a load on a wheelie? whatever i gave you basically everything possible it can be and **** 116 for a sensor get some throttle bodies of ebey for 50 and just do a complete swap

Yes, it only has trouble getting back up under a load. If i sit there in neutral and rev it, it returns to the set idle. If i ride the bike around, and mash the brake to bring the revs down under the set idle, it struggles to regain to the set idle. It climbs back to the idle very slowly.

Before I fixed the sticking choke and sticking throttle, it was inconsistant.

And if I am circling, forget it. All throttle cuz u have no idle to rely on. I am sawing at it like a lumberjack.

Ok. So I checked the vacuuum lines i think. The line connects to the front of every throttle body in the pic. The lower right is the TPS sensor, and secondary sensor. JB, you say that there is supposed to be a vacuum line running to the sensor too?

Dude whay are you wasting quality riding time when you can just come to my house and try any part you want for a 636 .

I have 3 complete running 636's and every single sensor you may need, I got it just call me i'll let you take a plastic tub home full of parts if you want to do it yourself.

Wait didn't I tell you this a while ago

there is a sensor right in front of #2AND #3 THROTTLE BODIES. On the bottom of the sensor there is a vacuum line plugged in. if it is knocked off it will do exactly what u r talkin about and the one in front of #1 throttle bodie will not have a vacuum line. hope this helps
