Re: 1000rr Fork seals SUCK

OK... UPDATE!!!!

So... I swapped out my blown set for another practically BRAND NEW set of 07' forks.

All is good for about 3 nights worth of lot riding...... stoppies just started to get good like on the last set....

BOOM....................

nothing happened.

not a damn thing.

BUT MY ******* RIGHT SIDE SEAL DECIDED TO OPEN UP LIKE NIAGRA FALLS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FOR NO ******* REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now to be honest... I LOVE the 1krr setup. Solid, predictable.... smooth. Easy to roll with. BUT jesus ******* christ, if Im gonna have to replace seals on BRAND NEW FORKS for NO ******* APPARANT REASON, I'm gonna be one pissed off douche bag this summer.

**** **** **** ****!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 1000rr Fork seals SUCK

I just got seals done on the 07 600rr if it makes you feel better5000 kms and only the right seal went but not pissing just a tinkle. The bloke who fixed them says It was just the seals, bushings were nice and he was actually surprised I got that many k's out of em anyways. I gotta learn how to do em myself. 180 bucks for that

so what is 5000kms? like 12k miles?

And my dealer does seals for like $300+ They'll only do them in a set of left and right (even though I only need the right side on both sets).

**** that... these were BRAND ******* NEW!!!!!! And I DO NOT MOUSETRAPP!!! Nor do I strap the hell outta my bike.

****. I beat the **** outta the f4i forks for seasons upon seasons w/ no problems... but a couple weeks and the 1krr seals blow for NO REASON!?!?!

I am not happy w/ honda right now.

see thats the thing... you dont need to take apart the valve stack to change seals and oil..thats only if your changing the valving or springs..KJ i got ya man...you'll never have to pay for it again once i show you how easy it is...for everybody else..when i show him if he's down, he can take step by step pics for his reference or he can post them..either way i'll look out

10-4 good buddy... I was going to tear into them anyway just to see what's goin on in there... that'd be sick to have someone there that actually knows what they're doing.

Lets get together one of these upcoming wkends when the weather is lookin a lil better.

Lemme know when your down... or maybe me and a couple riders can take a trip down there.

do you still have rubber lines? i have the same master and my **** is dead right...i have braided lines and rbf 600 fluid. try to crack all your banjos, then bleeders.if your still having problems try this. take both calipers off the forks and put a screw driver in between the pads.pump the master untill it closes on the screwdriver..force the pads apart as fast as you can. oh and make sure you have the res cap off..that should help...and make sure your lever is on the # 1 setting (farthest from the bar)

it's like this...conventional forks the fluid rests under the seal..inverted forks the fluid rest on top of the seal...the problem is one spec of dirt gets in between the tube and the seal and the fluid can just run down the tube...where as coventional the fluid has to travel up the tube.make sense?

Well... at least I can put some heavier weight fluid in em now.
if you are using them for stoppies hardcore then you probably will. performance use of the front end like that you have ot keep the parts tip top shape.

and why would you use thicker fluid? it'll be way off on the valving. stock fluid breaks down super fast so the stock fluid wasn't up to par to begin with if you had more then 10 hours on them. putting a high quality fluid of the recommended weight will increase performence quite a bit over the factory fluid. i would do that before changing the viscosity and throwing off the suspension dynamics.

on any new race bike i setup the first thing i do is change the stock fluid out for quality fluid and it makes a great improvement. and when used hard, fluid only lasts 10-15 hours. it heats up and breaks down fast.
