Head Gasket???

Anyone got any ideas about head gaskets? I thought I might have had a head gasket problem on my 2005 gsxr 600 kuz the oil in the sight glass was milky looking so I changed the oil and the used oil didnt look too bad just barely any trace of water or antifreeze. So I changed the oil and ran it for a while not having any problems what so ever with the bike running well and the oil kept looking cleen. well then the other day after going for a quick little ten minute ride I got back and noticed the oil looked milky again and I checked the antifreeze level and it had dropped down a little. Now I'm thinking that the head gasket might have a small leak and is letting antifreeze into the oil. the bike still runs fine and doesnt smoke or even smell wierd on the exhaust like typically a head gasket problem would. Any ideas guys kuz I'm stumped? I'm not sure if its kuz its only friggin 30 degrees outside and maybe the expansion and contracting of hot-cold metal is letting some antifreeze into the oil or what but I donthave the time to change outthe head gasket myself and I have no idea how much it will cost me to have it done.

seal behind the waterpump bad? they have a little weep hole on the engine that is supposed to drip coolant, and let you know that the seal is bad, but people let them go and dont take care of it, so sooner or later it pushes coolant past the seal, into the oil.

Re: Head Gasket???

do a compression test and see if you have any leak down.

Re: Head Gasket???

If it is leaking between an oil passage and coolant passage then yes it will leak antifreeze into your oil. You can still have perfect compression, bike still runs great with no problems. It's just the location of the leak... and I'm 99% sure you have antifreeze leaking into your oil.

Don't continue riding it like this, you'll ruin your main and rod bearings then you'll need a new motor when a rod starts knocking.

Yeah I know that I'm getting coolant in my oil but just trying to figure out where... Like suicidal said it could be the water pump seal. Gonna try changing the water pump seal and O-Rings then the oil again and ride it for like an hour and see where it puts me. If there is still coolat geting into the oil then I will take it into my mechanic for replacing the head gasket. As of right now he told me that the head itself is probally still fine kuz the bike is running great but if the seal dont fix it then bring it in ASAP and he'll have it done in an afternoon.
