Teach and Bubash
Re: Teach and Bubash
so any size "platforms" are allowed?
Re: Teach and Bubash
so your not allowed 12 bars anymore in xdl or you just cant have ones that come up more then a 1inch from the seat?
if this is true i bet alot more people (or mainly just the ones who had extended 12 bars) are gonna start runnin that platform in the seat

Re: Teach and Bubash
Here is the simple wording.... no train tracks with sharp edges...
Nobody really runs huge bars anymore, but I wanted to put that rule out there, because its only a matter of time until someone gets crippled from a stoppie wreck... don't get misled, this **** is dangerous and not addressing the dangers because of "what the riders like" is wholly irresponsible... do what you like, but your bars "should" be within a certain size and they MUST have all sharp edges removed
long extended bars have the opposite effect of seat platforms in the terms of leverage by the way

Re: Teach and Bubash
this

and like pfeiffers bar

those are the ones i was talking about when i said "extended" i just worded it wrong
Re: Teach and Bubash
the edges better be blunt... I would prefer the bar be below the rear seat, but I said an inch above to give the guys some leeway...
its about establishing a sense of responsibility for what "can" happen... I want you guys to consider all things when your bar has that sharp edge and you say ehhh so what...then not only does it hit you but cuts you as well..... or you jump on without your helmet for just a second, and you cake yourself doing a short coaster like the guy on here just did.......... or you leave that forkseal leaking onto your rotors because you want to go ride and it goes from slipping to full lock in a stoppie
yes there are rules and they are for your safety, not mine... the bar thing.. ehh it only affects you..and when it does affect you, it means you have flipped a stoppie anyways, so its more of a secondary thing
but take for example the oil leaking... it may not affect you, but say the rider after you slips and falls under the bike in a fast circle and breaks their ankle..
if you read the tech info it states that these are all guidelines and not guarantees of safety and that it is ultimately the riders responsibility to ensure proper motorcycle maintenance and safety

Re: Teach and Bubash
i agree... with the saftey rules...
the leaking oil for example...
i expierenced that at a show this weekend...
overheated the bike doing a standstill burn out an poped the tire...
coolant spraying out all over the shop while it was in the shop an me an tony got a tire change an both of us slide out on the slick asphalt within 5 mins of riding...
no one was hurt but it coulda been prevented and coulda caused a problem...
if your competeing your bike should be in good condition not leaking seals an whatnot...

Good idea.
Re: Teach and Bubash
Where can I find a full list of these safety guidelines? I am always pointing out these and other unsafe things to riders.
Can you post them for viewing/ download?
Or better yet lets get together a bike check STICKY

Re: Teach and Bubash
okay well i jumped the gun on my post before talking to the xdl source himself "Thomas".
The "spine destroyers" that will not be tolerated are the ones that become razer pointy from scrapes. Its your decision to run a 12 bar that could harm you, however the ones that are long and pointy "train tracks" - thomas quote. will not be tolerated due to obvious safety reasons.
I understand and agree with the new XDL safety guidlines now that "platform bars" will be allowed in the use of competition!!!
Re: Teach and Bubash
apex is this rule for real?
how many riders have been hurt from this? ya i know only a few are running this. but look at teach, hes flipped numerous stoppies and walked away. there are plenty of other things on a bike that could potentially spear you.
the only reason i challenge this is because im actually thinking about taking my 12 bar off and building a pfieffer bar on the back. reason im doing this is because the hole in seat set up is to cramped for my legs!
whack rule!
