yeah the highsides suck on my gsxr if i have a softer compound its takes a little more throttle to break loose but with a harder i highside more and really easy to break loose.

no i'm talking head to head drifting around a small course judged on smoke how well you connect your drifts speed and who gets to the line first. note getting there first doesn't guarantee a win though.

Re: Drifting in The Comps????

So basically a race where you'll have competitors drifting the entire course?

I don't think thats gonna work too well.

1) if its a small course, you're gonna get people hitting each other, which could result in lots of nasty crashes and injuries meaning nobody is gonna want to do it because it could interfere with their indv freestyle runs.

2) Drifitng an entire course would be very difficult, and would potentially be more samey than just letting people loose drifting in any way they want to.

3) You'd have to have competitors go one at a time, which would drag it out and imo people would lose interest quickly.

4) Judging on smoke would be a bad thing. Some tyres smoke more than others at different rpms.

In theory it would be a cool idea, but in practice it wouldn't work.

Re: Drifting in The Comps????

WTF, I just dreamed about this **** last night... Now I remember...

I was entering a special drift comp, and they were counting how many sec's you would be able to drift... No front brake allowed

Would be a great idea!

oh wow, now that sounds like a good competition, I thought you were talking about doing a comp kind of like the "how many circles in a minute" type thing. A comp the way you describe it would be SICK

I retract my previous vote for no in the polls now

no i mean two riders at a time, connecting your drifts meaning coming out of a drift and right when you stop spinning the tire locking up the rear tire to set yourself for the next corner, not hitting the cones or running off track. closer you get the cones or going off course the better you score (on the absolute edge and making it look good), rider can find a tire that smokes well with their drifting style (pilot powers for me). open to ideas as well

Re: Drifting in The Comps????

by the way it would be hard to use the front brake when you are also being judged on speed not to mention you'd wash the front 1 vote its official i'm the man

Re: Drifting in The Comps????

so your talking about a course.. like a drift race.. *** that.. its a good idea but i think for more of what our sport is I.E. we do call it freestyle so just in an open lot at the comps have drift comps with everything being tallied from tire smoke to crowd reaction to combos pulled while drifting... anything and everything freestyle would be dope in an event like this..

yeah then we w3might as well eliminate the approach in stoppie and coaster and target stoppie would not be considered freestyle either. can still have a freestyle event within a set course and it would take more skill to combo your drifts on a set course.
