Re: Wsra Stepped Up!

at no point in there did I see anything about a "sanctioning body"

I saw things like this..

"membership" <--- "ohh, its gonna cost ya"
"contingency" <--- "from the word contingent" look it up!
"eventually" <--- "one of these days"
"potentially enabling" <--- "maybe, maybe"
"predetermined number of members" <--- "whenever we feel like it"
"while in good standing" <---"as long as your dues are paid"

but hey.. this **** dont affect me.. so i dont really care.. "So sign up on Sunday, and don’t miss your opportunity to compete with your favorite number!!"

I also wanted to let everyone know that I "potentially" have a reality show deal in the works that will "eventually enable" a "pre determined number of members" to get famous and also get some great "contingencies" as long as they are a "member in good standings" of my new crew the xtreeme hot bling boys

Re: Wsra Stepped Up!

This is in response to Foto's question.

The sanctioning body should be an association of events organizers and involved parties and be weighted by a riders union who have a strong hand in any moves made by the sanctioning body.

not one organization within a sport trying to manage the whole sport. That's what I meant. not to imply anyone is doing that.

I'm hoping that's the way things are already headed and if not wanted to chime in that it's the right way to go. for everyone to cooperate and try to grow the entire sport together.

You're right. It sounds like a sanctioning body though.

Think about it like this. WSRA says it wants to do the following for us.

Get an event origination that generally has X amount set as prize money to give more.
Persuade a company that participates in our sport and has X budget for X riders to pitch in for contingencies.

SO:
In order to get more money from either one of those entities would result in two ways.

WSRA would have to negotiate higher payouts on our behalf of its members. But how? By saying WSRA members wont compete unless X payout are available. Or by saying WSRA wont endorse the event.

In other words, not without the core professionals standing behind it WSRA can it pull more money from an event. And being an open invite members club is not going to work. Why would it? Would you as an acting professional rider that did 40 events last year and placed top 5 at a few contests want to be associated as equals with Mr. Powerwheelie? Hell no, it only hurts the professional rider. AMA pro cards are not given out because you own a bike and race a couple times a year.

So now lets talk about contingencies. Lets take something like a helmet company. SMF cycles (craft helmets) runs a program independently. In fact MANY MANY companies have contingency programs setup. And if something like WSRA was to setup additional companies to pitch in, how would it really help its members? It wouldn't, because all the top riders on the podiums now days already have the key sponsors. And if someone like AMSOIL wants to put up a contingency they would work directly with a contest series like XDL, again like SMF. I doubt they would use WSRA as its avenue to create the program. Also, you'll be fucked if you think you're going to get a sticker on a bike that X company pays X dollars for just to hope for 150 bucks for a first place finish. Contingencies only work in AM events, and we don't have them.

Lastly, about the numbers thing. WORST IDEA EVER. Why? Because the way a number system has merit is because you're placing in your series. So if XDL runs a numbers series next year and the champion gets offered the #1 number plate that would be great. Because then you could approach a comapany and say look I'm the #1 plate holder and US national champion, pay me. I bet Darius would be thrilled to be number 489 while Jeff from Ohio holds the #1 plate in the prestigious WSRA.

FOR THE RIDERS BY THE RIDERS. If not we're ****** patsies.

Damn what a break down.... Next time i see you I'm goin to give you a hug!!! lmao @ Patsies.... i still wanna see what they pull off at least in there first event there involved in... i guess I'm just curious... but i agree unless all riders are willing to participate its pointless, it has to be for the riders by the riders!

i thought you were done with it all like 2 weeks ago? anyhow, the only way to obscure the prominent goall of blood thirsty power sharks is to have a board elected every few years, not by whos got the most money, but who demonstrates the most intrest in sport development. you take this number and vote on candidates to be up for board election then those who will sit on the board.

all in all the WSRA idea has a high chance of failure anyways. this is due in part that only members can compete, well some companies may undermind that rule and throw an event so everyday riders can get a shot. ref: the issue of announcers being undersold involving thomas. the next man will come, n though he wont truely do it better or even get it right, he'll get enough it it good enough to attract a crowd and enough intrested parties to compell ideas and get it right.

numbers.... riders that compete loose identity. bill d, darius, colton, e-dub are no longer them. they're soon to be known as "um wats his name, oh yeah, rider (random number), yeah thats my fav that guy. as nick said, the favorite rider changes to whichever one has then number 1 spot. in that way riding does go back to roots though, essentially not good for it as a sport. riders don't get individual recognition in comps, wont always be able to enter comps. credits issued back to street merit. ex: oh rider blank is ok but my fav is bullo. cus bullo puts out a vid, has his name in it, on his bike, helmet, has recognition and knows how to get it and so do other riders. all in all, if u've followed me this far. payouts by wsra unionized is ok i guess, but as a union it can determine what riders are approved to compete. powers not a big issue, those just in this trying to make a buck will stay trying to do that, union possibly undermined by the dollar hunters, the streets are once again a competition n cops start using deadly force to make an example. wsra's a touchey subject, newborn, as strong as a whisper. if done right it can become mighty sparta. if not it'll join this thread in the halls of worthless posts.
