Ok, just got off the phone with Klaas, and he said:

"The pictures were from my very first testing project... It's true that alloy is to weak, and it will wear out in just a short amount of time... Therefore I'm using steel...

I know for a fact that steel is even stronger then the specially coated alloy inside every braking master cylinder...

So just make that tube out of steel, and you're good to go"

that's what he said...

I don't know the exact details, but it's something like that :P

i hope they where expensive brake jobs or else you guys lost money rebuilding every cylinder on every brake job

As soon as I clicked back on this thread I looked at the bike (I assumed sportsbike as he mentioned sportsbike 19mm masters at the beginning) then I caught on.

Thanks anyway though.

EDIT: Oh btw if klass ever starts selling them I call dibs. In black if poss.

uhhhhh.....ok....so what is the advantage of having a smaller piston in your master cylinder? Why would anyone desire a smaller piston in the master? Seems as brake pressure would be less! Smaller Piston...less fluid displaced, less brake pressure....

Because we are all using front brake or clutch masters for our hand brakes, which have a bore dia that is too large....Your rear masters bore is 11-14mm max, and the perfect setup should be a front master with the same bore....

These front brake masters people are using are designed to be used with 2 calipers with 4-6 pistons each, but we are using them with 1 caliper with only 1 or 2 pistons...So the bore is not the proper size, and they would work even better with a smaller bore...

I just spent $300 on a Magura 13mm to make my HB even better then a $200 Brembo 16mm.....This is a cheap way of getting any bore you want out of a cheap master.....

well since most masters are designed to work with two 4 piston front calipers and most rear brakes have one single piston rear caliper then the larger bore will tend to be stiff and not have alot of feel but the smaller bore allows the lever to move more and give better feel and the change in the pivot point of the lever can increase leverage for an easier lock up

$99 per axle but this was 20 years ago and we got all the plungers and orings in bulk so the parts were cheap unless it was a ford with the plastic pistons those were extra..

after you do enough of them and as long as you have a power bleeder it only adds about ten minutes per axle .......

pop hone clean lube install ,,like butta

haha yep the blue oval says it all......

we would replace the plastic pistons with steel thats why some fords cost more....

they weren't really plastic i don't think but some type of fiber compound and they worked fine until you pushed them back in and then they would stick almost every time so as long as you never replaced your brakes you would be good.......lol

Love the ingenuity. And as a side note, your English is better than many on here that are FROM an English speaking country, lol.

Bill says hes too busy at the moment to comment on this, but he also said

"He's going to need more than that lathe to hit the surface finishes that yield any real performance or he'll just be weeping fluid"

You see the finish required for these bores to work properly is so fine its measured in microns I believe, and just a lathe with reamer isnt going to get it fine enough...Where not talkin a few thou here, that can be measured with those digi calipers....Microscopic ****

Like everyone is saying these are great ideas, but sometimes you just dont have the right equipment to get the job done right yourself...For this to be done proper hed either have to invest in some serious equipment, or have these sleaves bored and plated for him by someone with the right equipment....

I guess even you dont understand how fine and precise these bores need to be .....Im sure it will work but not to OEM specs...Not with a shop lathe and honing stones....For OEM spec microfinish Im talkin about at least....

Maybe its cause Im a CNC programmer and I deal with this kinda stuff all day....Its just like when one of my customers busts out his rusty tape measure and says "its 1 inch" and I bust out my digi caliper and say "No actaully its 1.0050 inch"....Makes no differnce to them but it means a big differnce to me and my CAD/CAM...
