100 octane fuel
Re: 100 octane fuel
good point on that...I forgot about the sunoco stuff is leaded... the main problem with leaded is the emmisions but if you have an older bike the leaded fuels actually help lube your top end....but I'm not sure how it would work in an injected bike....
Re: 100 octane fuel
Waste of money and actually performs worse in your engine. The higher octane will reduce the tendancy for your engine to knock but in return burns slower and cooler. You will get more power by running the lowest octane that your motor is designed to handle. Many sportbikes are rated for 87octane and you are only wasting money by using a higher grade.
Also the Specific Gravity of the 100 oct fuel is a considerable amount different, changing the Air/Fuel mixture.
Re: 100 octane fuel
False. Most likely law in your state will not allow leaded gas to be sold at the pumps. You have to check with VP's color coding to see if the fuel has lead added to it. Most likely you wont see lead until after 108 octane. Not always the case though.
And stuntman 29: You cannot use leaded fuel in a fuel injected application. There are fine screens inside your injectors and it will clog them instantly. Same goes for bikes CA. models and modern, with O2 sensors. It will coat the sensor. The O2 sensor will compansate for the rich condition its is beliving exists and lean out the mixture resulting in a blown motor.

Re: 100 octane fuel
i work at an air port and my boss uses av gas in all his bikes zx14, R1, gsxr 600, datona tripple 675 and says it runs cleaner better
... and its about 2.50 a gal here.. where as super unleaded is 3.05. my other boss at the air port uses jet fuel in the diesel truck.. smells funny but good.. runs better too..

Re: 100 octane fuel
we have a vp regional office here in terre haute and i have friends that work there. the VP national tech director, bruce, used to live here and race with some of the guys that worked at our local shop. i hear a lot about fuel all the time....
Re: 100 octane fuel
I notice a HUGE difference between 87 and 92 in both my F4I now and my old 900. I can't drift my F4I with 87 in it at all, but with the 92/93 it's rev limiter driftin!!! they sell the 100 octane here in cali right at the pump, runs good.!!!
Re: 100 octane fuel
Just run some Seafoam through your tank if you want to clean stuff out. Pep? You're on crack muh boy! When I put 93 in my bike and used my usual small amount of throttle and clutch to creep out of 1st gear, it wanted to stumble and stall, so I had to give it a little more revs than usual. I couldn't notice a difference anywhere else, but after I went back to 87 it was creeping out of 1st with authority again.

and I've always been running 93(super) in my f4i. would running regular(87) be 'better'?
Re: 100 octane fuel
, dont ever use that ****.im with mike when it comes to gas out in cali our bikes run better on supreme, even though all that we know about octane says different
. i noticed it in every bike that i have owned.-mexican mayhem
