Honda F4 FI question

Im buying a lot bike, its an F4 that i am going to do a FI conversion on, and i have one question i havent been able to find an answer to. Do the F4s from 99/00 have in tank fuel pumps that can run the F4I fuel injection setup and if not can the tank accept a F4I fuel pump? If not, will a F4I tank fit the F4 frame? I've always been a suzuki guy so the honda side is a little new to me, any help much appreciated.

Re: Honda F4 FI question

no, the f4 tank won't work, yes the f4i tank will bolt right up.

Im sure you will have to get a fuel injected motor to.. you cant just bolt FI up to a F4 motor. Hope you know that..

Re: Honda F4 FI question

It'd be way better to sell it and get an F4i....that's more difficult that it sounds.

Re: Honda F4 FI question

well, for about 1/3 the price of the f4i i can buy the f4 and do the conversion...may not be the easiest out there but i think i can do that.

It's not like he's building a space shuttle.

All you're basically doing is swapping out parts. Just don't forget where **** goes.

You don't have to, but there is a sensor that's different in the cylinder head of an F4 vs. F4i - Or I should say it's not there at all in the F4.

You can usually find pretty good package deals on ebay for complete F4i motors with wiring/ecu/throttlebodeies/radiator etc.

It would be easier/faster to buy something complete and swap it rather than buy all the injected stuff piece by piece, plus it gives you a complete F4 motor to put right back on ebay to offset some of the cost.

I helped swap everything back in 01/02 or so for a friend with a wrecked 00F4 he bought dirt cheap way back when.

You really probably are better off just buying an F4i to begin with, unless this F4 is something like a grand or less.
