06 636 Faulty Forks

JUST for everyones info- i seen my fender moving and noticed my forks were loose at the bottoms on my 06 636, they werent leaking just wobbling. i checked my boys 04 636 forks when i got home and his wobbles slightly. check your forks by pushing the bike forwards and slightly squeeze the front brake and watch your fender, no ones safe

Yeah, a lot of people think it's an 03/04 thing, but the 05/06 forks do it too.

probably not going to hear of many problems if there are any on the 07 yet cause theres not many stunting them cause there so new. The 07 is suposed to be ******* boss for endos though. I've heard alot say its one of the best for endos.

& I still have not heard of 1 persons fork legs breaking on a 05/06 and I've heard of the 03/04 a few times.

Are we talking about any bolts you need to remove to change a tire?

I'm pretty sure when the front wheel is off theres a bolt on the botom of the fork leg that needs to be tight. Its not a bolt that you touch when you change the wheel but I do think the front wheel needs to be off to get to it.

Not 100% on this.

Re: 06 636 Faulty Forks

the bolt on the bottom is for the damper rod not to hold the forks together and the 05 06 forks are made by a different company then the 03 04 so im surprised to here they have the same problem ,they are made by the same company that makes honda forks

Re: 06 636 Faulty Forks

actually even honda forks have problems. There was big recall in UK as all the 954 forks(and 929 too?) were recalled. they changed the fork bottoms(slider and the low part) for ALL the bikes in UK.

Problem was only in UK apparently as they drive on salty roads. Road salt goes between the crome and the bottom cast part. Corrosion makes the cast part to pop as the crome part expands when it corrodes.

With all bikes I have always used WD-40 for that crome/cast joint, keeps the corrosion out.

suzuki forks don't break as the frame is so weak that it's always the first thing to go
