I'm small time, but I've been salvaging bikes for about 4 years now (flipping used bikes, selling parts/gear/accessories blah blah blah) and I started checking all the forks I came across after all the 03/04 636 talk.

Some of the 05/06 636s get loose too. I mostly deal in jap 600 supersports so it's not like I can say anything about ALL bikes with any certainty, just that from what I see the Kawasaki 600s are the only bikes I've come across with this issue.

It's not just stunters that have noticed this, road racers are aware of the problem too.

As long as you stay on top of it and check it regularly and maintain the bike I really don't see it being a problem, but I'm far from an expert. You could just take the easy way out and buy a Honda

The problem does seem to be more prevalent on the KYBs than it is on the Showas, but age/mileage may play a role here.

I'm pretty sure I've seen two different people on this forum with threads about snapping 05/06 636 forks.

Since I saw someone else in this thread say something about broken Suzuki frames, you guys notice a lot of 06/07 GSXR 600/750s with broken frames?

Lots of them are at auction broken near the front, not at the neck, but along the long welds that run perpendicular to the ground on the side of the frame towards the front 1/3 of the frame. Some of them look like they haven't been hit bad, but the frame is cracked. Usually when the frame cracks at the front of a bike it's at the neck or a frame ear/motor mount. It's obviously generally a front end impact, front wheel is bent, forks are bent, etc. These GSXRs will have no front end damage, sometimes little damage at all on the bike, but the frame is cracked in two pieces.

I life close to insurance company sale room and visit it often, damn all the suzukis are broken from that frame weld. Cast frames are not good. there is no bending parts, I've seen same with new cast framed FZ1's, they crack from the welds.

I think the frame issue is due to the higher appeal that the gsxr has to the "obiese community".

I had GSXR-1000 ('03) forks on my 636 this summer.. its doable and actually feels pretty nice... the GSXR forks and stem are about and inch shorter than 636 forks, so if i could find a longer GSXR fork it would fit better, but still, i know it works nicelt cause GSXR races fit PERFECTLY into 636 frames... that's how i made it work...

Truth, saw his forks two days before they broke, looked fine, no leaks, no movement...
