Wow.... F.I. really IS garbage...

Well, that was a waste of $275...

First time the cage ever hit the ground, and as witnessed by my roommate (Niner), it was NOT a hard hit... and it ******* ripped out the motor mounts on BOTH sides

For as long as you've been a member here, there should be no reason why you went out and bought an FI cage.....hope you learned your lesson

I've owned the bike since '02... Previous owner was a 45 year old man who never touched a nut on the bike. I ran another cage on it (Lou_Brakant cage) for about a year, and it fell over a few times doing donuts and one twelve crash.

Oh well... I'll just run some longer grade 8s bolts through it and put a nut on the back end and be back out there.

Actually, I just popped the cage back in place and continued to ride today.

Re: Wow.... F.I. really IS garbage...

All cages will fail!!! If it hits at the right angle something is gonna break. Fixing a torn thread is a whole lot easier than shattering your stator cover and breaking the lower piece of your block off. For normal drops I've never had a problem, but when you let go of the bike at 15-20 or so and the bike lands like a pancake most cages will bend, something has to give whether it's the cage or the part it's bolted too. Also if you cage isn't tight it's much more likely to fail.

Re: Wow.... F.I. really IS garbage...

Its all about having your cage tight. Ive seen people run em all loose and **** bends. Anything will bend. Ive been running my FI cage for a while now and I love that ****. I cant ride with a big old jungle gym on my bike. I hate it. It will actually make me crash. I still think FI is the best design. It looks stock and doesnt get in the way.

Re: Wow.... F.I. really IS garbage...

OK on the FI cages

Make sure you tighten the bolt. YES u have to take ur frame sliders off. Get off ur lazy ***

I just replaced the bolts on mine.. You should of seen how fuckn warped and electro welded it was.. i think about 10 threads were still there

on another note I put in Grade4 bolts.. I want them to break before anything else.. and make sure u got washers..

I bought my bike from a stunter that put it through hell for 2 years.. sold it to another sunter.. that disrespects every bike he owns..

and now I got it.. Same damn cage.. this winter im gonna replace it with another FI!!!

I love mine.. Im missing one cross bar because of what all its been through.. But it continues to save my ***.. so ill swear by it..

Other ppl other opinions.. Im pretty much a newb.. but I still love my FI !

Re: Wow.... F.I. really IS garbage...

Come on D-style you should know that FI cages do that .... **** ripped out my f4i motor mounts as well as the f3 motor mounts. Since I went with SI I have'nt had any issues.
