Stalling on Idle

Ok for starters the bike is a 2005 600rr, gearing is -1/+9 (15,52). I have recently been learning idle and can catch it most all the time on every try now. The problem startedt his past night when i started dipping way back behind bp while on the idle, which is set at around 3.5-4k rpms. Towards the end of practice I was trying to attempt to scrape so I would snap it up from a stop to idle and then just let it roll back as far as i could, however, as i would do this obviously I would loose almost all my speed. Right about the time this would happen the bike would stall out completely and I went mousetrapping right over the ****** bars....bike fell over BUT was still runnign and in gear. On the second attempt the same thing happened only this time when i mousetrapped the bike did in fact shut off. I have the tip over sensor removed and all is fine there as far as wiring goes. But I'm just curious as to what I am doing wrong. Some mentioned pulling in the clutch when trying to scrape or "feathering" the clutch when it starts to die out on idle....I'm just looking for some advice, or clarification on this. So any help or ideas would be great. I will try and get some pictures up by the end of the day, but for reference the tail was only about 3-6'' away from the ground.

Thanks

Seth

Re: Stalling on Idle

IT shouldnt stall out at all man.. consdiering your idle is set damn HIGH! !!

Maybe injnition problem? injectors cleaned? alot of little things could be the problem.. I have NEVER seen this happen at all in my time.. I see alot of mousetraps turn into engine dieing.. and a nice nutt slapper in the end but thats it..

I would considering cleaning them with carberaur cleaner.. i do that to mine once a year

Re: Stalling on Idle

If you are going to scrape, you need to be going faster. Its stalling because the wheel is coming to a stop when you are trying to scrape on idle.

Its definelty not mechanical. I would bet you are hardly moving when this is occuring.

You are correct, barely moving at all, i mean im not on the brake hard, but none the less i would say idle is BARELY draggin the bike along....then boom shut up mousetrap and nut slam and then oer the bars lol happened twice last ntie

everybike is different 3.5 pulls a lot on my bike so it's kinda relative...i guess ....i get it really far back then pullin in the clutch and let it hit the bar....practice with that....then when it hits the bar use the brake

Re: Stalling on Idle

Bottom line, go faster to scrape. Pull in the clutch, float it back using the brake.

Re: Stalling on Idle

you're going slow enough to PARK the bike on the exhaust, but not to scrape it.
You can scrape it easier going faster, grab the clutch, over the brake, scrape and ride out. It's easy. Once you got that, coasters are easy as hell, or at least they were for me. I could do 500'+ coasters before I could idle seatstanders. but thats just me.

I slip my clutch when doing idle slow wheelies ,like when youre doing a slow sit down on idle ,into a circle and you slip the clutch and blip the gas just barely ,to keep it going. When I do slow scrapes on the bar ,I'll clutch up from a stop to right around BP ,I usually just catch it with the RB and let it fall back or I just blip the throttle to put it back on the bar. My 636 doesnt stall on the bar ,but actually goes pretty good on the bar and wants to keep going on scraping the speed of idle. (to much on the bar it'l smoke excessively)
my zx9 used to stall when beyond BP. It sounds like maybe youre braking to hard and stalling out like that .??
Oh also use that clutch ,to prevent mousetraps ,and keep the bike up . the clutch is key!

Re: Stalling on Idle

possibly i suppse maybe a lil to much brake....I guess the only way to take care of this is by playig and falling more lol ...

as far as coasters go, i will admit I am intimidated by them and am trying to learn slow **** so i dont wreck hard, when you are talking about going faster in 1st you merely mean like 20-30 right??? just curious hahah
