Custom 905 Cage.. Finished

i laid my bike down once at 15 mph.. did $500 worth of damage cause the 905 cage just sucks.. when i uste to lay it on the side witht he orignal 905 it would lean over until it hit the tank.. so i've been wanting to extend the cage out for awhile.. i started by adding sliders to the end of the cage.. but that wasnt really what i wanted.. i got a chance to work up at my uncles shop and we threw this cage together..

bending some pipes...

then we cut them to length, grinded the edges and welded them

cage works great now.. its very sturdy when its on the ground.. i was picking it up by the 12 bar and throwing it to the side and as long as the bike catches the 2 bars i added it rolls back down to lay on the bars..

let me know what u think.. its going to be sanded down and sprayed flat black within the next couple days

Re: Custom 905 Cage.. Finished

need a mandrel bender.. but good idea... oh, and try using gas when you weld.. or flux core.

Re: Custom 905 Cage.. Finished

yeah.. i had 5 pipes cause i thought atleast one would bend cause we are using a hydraluic pipe bended.. one of his friends has a mandrel but i just wanted to get it done..

we filled the pipes with sand.. u can see 3 of the pipes had nice even bends to them.. but 2 of them creased.. so i had to use atleast one of the creased ones... the welds are going to be grinded down a little and its going to be painted.. the paint will make it look really nice when its finished i think

Those pipe benders can be a B some times. It always wants to crease with tight bends.Should be strong.

Looks good. I got the old 905 cage and hope i don't have the same problem. It tips back up to the tank, on it's side though. Cut those 905 tags off now !!

yeah the orignal 905 protects the engine and frame well.. doesnt protect it from rolling or hitting the rear fairing/subframe.. i've been wanting to add these bars for a long *** time.. glad i finally got it finished
