Re: chain questions

its either way you tighted it too hard and 520 is too weak ...525 is the best options out there.

Re: chain questions

520 is plenty strong enough, a 530 would snap also if it wasn't ajusted properly. have a shop install it next time n take notes.

is 520's were soooo week 03+ ninjas (636s) wouldn't come with 520's stock.

Re: chain questions

z link is also better quality than standard chains.

you should about 1 to 1 1/2 inch of travel up and down.

About the travel in the chain... Is that true in general? I was switching out the rear tire last weekend and was worried if the chain was too tight or too loose.

Re: chain questions

my swingarm says 30cm on it. (i think)

i leave about an inch and let it ride. only broke a chain once and thats bc my master link hopped off somewhere on the highway.

Re: chain questions

i snapped mine after i bought it(520).. everything was installed correctly but the chain wasnt adjusted to the right length.. way to much slack.. every time i popped it i could hear the chain popping... then i bought a new master link adjusted my chain to about 1" of slack and havnt had any problems since..

quick way to learn about how important it is to keep your chain adjusted correctly

Re: chain questions

make sure when u sit on your bike your chain has a slight bit of play. when your swing arm is parrallell with the ground its at the longest point.. if there is no play or to much play... its fucked up lol, the factory calls for 1 1/4 inch of play that is way to much for stunting, its having you set up for maximum load capacity...

Re: chain questions

i think renthal chains are made for dirtbikes not street bikes. look at the tensile strength of different type & size of chains.

chain specs...tensile strength-ft. lb.

renthal works 520 R-32 gold chain - 7,034 off road chain up too 650cc

RK GB520gsv chain - 11,300 street chain up too 1400cc

DID 520zvm2 superbike series- 8,525 up too 1000cc

EK 520mvxz - 9,000 up too 1000cc

EK 520 sr sport - 7,700 up to 350cc

DID 530 zvm2 - 10,400 up to 1300cc

DID 520v vector - 6,830 up to 400cc

compare the different chains with the one you bought.....i think you just bought the wrong chain
