First ride on the stunt bike!

Yesterday, I took out the stunt bike for the first time since buying it. I was with one of my boyz just in case I kill myself. I was trying first gear standups and every time I brought the bike up I couldn't keep it in my head to press the rear brake and always chopped the throttle to come down. Most of the time I came down really hard and a couple of times almost flew over the front handlebars. At first it was a scary feeling doing a stand up since I'm used to sit downs, but after a while I started to feel a little more comfortable. I was mostly concentrating on how high the front end was and wasn't able to concentrate on the rear brake. My friend was telling that I wasn't even near the balance point. I also need a good stunt spot as the one I always go to was flooded with security, so if anyone in North New Jersey knows of a spot? Any advice and tips would be helpful. I'm planning to get videos of me in a couple of days. Thanks

Were you staggered? I'd keep practicing in first and get some throttle control. Then start clutching it up once your not so choppy with the throttle.

Re: First ride on the stunt bike!

i learned brake control before throttle control. i had idle wheelies before being able to ride wheelies out on the streets. i think its safer to just clutch em up from a stop and get on the brake right away.

practice man thats it. video tape yourself and watch it. then compare it to other videos. also the kyle woods video's can help as well wheelies and advanced wheelies. im a visual learner so watching was easier than reading it

Re: First ride on the stunt bike!

just practice, cover the rear brake, and try to open up the throttle when the front end comes down. Even if your not very high up, still open up the throttle. Your eather gonna wreck or kill your fork seals, or both. Also make sure when you set your front end down your wheel it 100% straight. If it's not you will tank slap.

Thanks for the advice, I went out looking for a stunt spot yesterday and saw some good spots, hopefully when I get their and start practicing the cops won't show up.

I've rode out standups at 90 but I've never came close to looping, I've never tank slapped, or whent over the bars. I have good throttle controll, & I'm not choppy at all. Didn't really understand your point?

Re: First ride on the stunt bike!

the point is you're not getting tankslap in first gear (or second for that matter) if you put down the wheel a lil crooked.
