I like it with less gear because I can be choppy and the bike is so underpowered I seem smooth

huh ,i never looked at it like that . Its hard sometimes for me to be real smooth unless im doin idle wheelies I have -1 /+30. Im more used to it now , ive had that setup for like 3 yrs. But Im going to go about half the size on this 636 im setting up.

I will always use stock because i go everywhere on my bike, highway trips hitting streets, lots, whatever. The speed on idle with stock sprockets is perfect for circles, you have just enough ramming speed. The only thing that sucks is stalling things out and jumping back on, you have to work the clutch like a majician. Other then that, its worth it to be able to rip down the highway at a reasonable rpm, and when the cops show up, you know your not the slowest bike there.

+10000

i am -1 on my R6, and it is pretty much perfect. i just started learning circles, and i do see what you mean about feathering the clutch.... because i stalled 68% of the time. 1st gear 4100 idle = 15mph, ****** perfect.

Actually the higher your idle the more your going to stall because it forces you to use more brake instead of the gas which you should really be using. Drop your idle down to 3500 and you will stall less, sounds odd, but its the truth.

Its a Beast Kid...
Dont Hate, Will leave the Honda 1000
by like 3 lengths,

This Bike is far from a stunter.
But As A rider, Great Acceleration, Great Mid- Range ,
Rediculous Cornering, Super smoothe Suspension...

I Cant see Complaining about it one bit...
I could have got any bike i wanted. and the R1 was calling me..

And i Am looking for a stunter though,. my Kawi is a Hunk of metal.
and way to heavy to do anything ADVANCED!!

I may be a "kid" but i know more about this then you thats for sure. Your asking what gearing you need to bring an R1 up and then saying your kawi is not good enough to do anything advanced ? Maybe you have already moved on the the advanced pow pow powwwwer wheelies ? R1's are the classic Newb bikes because for some reason people think their plastic tranny's are fantastic and they look pretty.

+1... ABSOLUTE TRUTH right there!

I use:

2500 on my stunt 636
2000 on my street 636
and 1500 on my street 1000

for slow/O's and stuff...

Being smooth on the gas is something that comes with practice. Using your idle to do the work for you is not going to help you in the long run although yea you will feel like a champ for now. So maybe yea keep it high and get used to the bike spinning, then once your comfortable with that you can turn the idle back down and focus more on throttle control and less on the ohhh **** im spinning around feeling.

I am Not a Noob, But i cant do Circles or slow wheelies.
And Sometimes i do power wheelies ( So what )

My Question was how much can i change the gearing without affecting
my everyday riding. and My kawi must weigh like 500 hundred pounds
it feels very heavy up in the air....

And i wasnt calling you a Kid in that way.
you are older Than me.... i said it Like Son, or man, you get it!~~~

Re: who rocks stock gears or close to it

Then go no more then -1 and +2 or 3 and you will think your bike is fast like a lazer beam. Your spedo will read faster as well so you must be going fast..
