idle..... how important?
Re: idle..... how important?
no doubt , but with my 73 th sprocket I clutch it to BP and just catch idle @ 3,000 without really touching the rear brake , I just blip the thottle when it starts to drop and barely tap the brake . But this is just when Im clutchin up from a stop to idle doin strait stdowns ,to walking. But when im walking behind the bike in idle im on the handbrake the whole time.

Re: idle..... how important?
yes you have to use idle if you want to do slow wheelies (2-5 mph) Oh and youre probobly gonna loop youre bike ,so get a good bar I had my welder make mine and ive looped onto that thing as hard as possible way to many times to count and never cracked the sub.
Re: idle..... how important?
i am a welder so........ i got that. I have crashed enough just wondering which way to go about it. thanks bro.
Re: idle..... how important?
well when i learned to catch idle,i did it with stock gearing.this is how i learned.i would turn the idle up to 3500-4000 get the bike going just fast enough to keep it up right.clutch it up high and wait for the bike to start to fall on the tail.(the idle as long as your going slow enough will pull the bike back with out giving it gas)now remember you have to get that bike up high and fast to get this.once you feel the bike pull itself back you start playing with that brake pedal.i almost always cover the pedal.just be sure to stay on the bike when you feel it start to fall back.BRAKE CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: idle..... how important?
what reinforcments should i do to rear end to accept 12 bar?????? I'm going to make my own and weld my sub frame my self. keep in mind this will be an sv i'm doing it on. Any pics? i don't want to do this **** and kill my rear end! so i want a 12 bar FIRST!!!! I was thinking a trellis type reinforcment might work well?????
Re: idle..... how important?
i would deffinately get a bar on there before you try catching idle.as far as the sv subframe i'm not to sure how i would go about it as i have never had the tail plastic off one.with it being a twin your gonna have a lot more engine brake and torque so it might be a little sketchy at first(no real experience),but like i said stay on the bike and use the brake.alot of people freak and jump off (not so good for the bike..lol)another thing you might want to keep in mind...it's a twin, they oil starve so you might want to look into custom making some kind of pick up.
Re: idle..... how important?
try this.turn the idle up to 4000 and just start rollin.see how much brake it takes to slow you down.if it's excessive turn it down a bit or up which ever seems better to you.just remember this when the bike is at balance point/or a little past your going to be on the brake just like you sre when your slowing your self down.the trick is to be smooth on the pedal and not just jam on it when you get nervous.you'll just have to play and find the right idle for you.i would start around 4000 and go from there.make sure you have good rear pads (your gonna use'em learning)

Re: idle..... how important?
not too much idle on the sv they got hella low end torque...
my buddy learned on one and it didnt need alot of idle so play around with it and try and get it so it doesn't over power the brake

Re: idle..... how important?
yeah i noticed the tourqe!!!! I can rock up a wheelie 2cnd gear at like 4 grand. 1st is just stupid! i try it with no idle but it's so fucin twitchy! a lil blip i'm on the bp way too fast! is there a way to rig up a handle bar adjust????? i've never even touched the idle on my last one. oh one more thing! tip over censor........ where is it? how to dis connect?
Re: idle..... how important?
Re: idle..... how important?
i don't know where the tip over switch is and i think the stock idle adjuster should work just fine ,as far as orlando goes im about 2 1/2 hours south of there but there are more stunters in o town then you could imagine...
just find a few of them and you will be set...
