Stoppie Psi ?

Ok so what tire pressures are you running ? I hear if you deflate it to like 18 you get good grip, but it seems to me that once your up you dont need grip anymore and it comes up just as good at a higher pressure.. I know when you have 15 pounds in your tire and you push your bike around it dosent really roll too easy, but when you have stock pressure it rolls like a dream.. So wouldnt you be rolling farther with a higher pressure. Less resistance on the road i guess ?? I mean i su(k either way, but it just seems odd to let pressure out to roll farther.. So who is rolling what,, and on what tire pressure ?

Re: Stoppie Psi ?

I've always like between 20-25... more air does = less resistance and it'll roll better but also makes it a little less stable..

Less pressure=more stability, but I actually think that you loose a bit of grip if you run your pressure too low. I am currently running 32-35 with a metzler m3....

Re: Stoppie Psi ?

i never put any thought into this, i always run my front at what ever i keep it at, usally around 28, at with no aftermarket stabilzer, im smooth at around 50 mph, any faster and i have a problem with pushing it too hard to one side or the other, maybe ill play with the front pressure ans see where i like it, i know one thing for sure, i use to run the rear down real low for slow stuff, but then when i landed stoppies too hard, i have about 4-5 little flat spots in my rim, f***ing sucks

*edit* oh yeah, i like to run the pilot powers on the front, tried a race take off, but the road has to be clean of everything or its slippery as hell

Re: Stoppie Psi ?

huh.. you really notice a difference when you set a fast highway wheelie down with low tire pressure up front.. Thing felt like it was on the brakes and gave a little wobble.. My *** kinda puckerd up.. But as for the stoppies it was kinda nice on the streets,, but once i got into the warehouse and set some circles down crooked i think i put a dent in the rim a bit FU(K. That and hitting the clovers is a little sketchy so i think ill leave it at a high pressure.

Re: Stoppie Psi ?

whats up vertical Joe. Man I love this site. Its got Kashabi, Gorka, and Joe. Who else kicks it here? I wish I had known this years ago, maybe then i would get some respect round this place. Its all good though, you will know Slab when I roll at the competitions. I will earn it there. You will see!

I roll at 30 front and 30 rear. I blew out a band in my rear once cause i had the tire pressure too high, and sat it down a bit too hard. It was right after some circle burnouts also so that might have affected it, by being too hot.

Re: Stoppie Psi ?

I run about 27PSI

but have always viewed stoppie tire PSI similar to rear tire coaster PSI

more PSI longer distance - more wobble
less PSI more stability - less wobble
