Stunting is a crime?

Hey, I'm new to the posting thing. How do.

I'm writing because a bit of a problem I've run into and was hoping to get some help. I've been riding for 3 yrs and tryin to stunt for the whole of this year. I pulled up on the freeway a couple weeks ago and rode one out for a ways, when I came down... There were cherries behind me! The cop said he was behind me for two miles! I just know there was not a cop in sight before I pulled it up? Well, the cop let me off with a speeding ticket and said keep it off the streets. With my job, I can't get another ticket or I loose my job. So, naturally, I went to parking lots... I've had cops and lawyers tell me it is still illegal and can still get a ticket?

Has anyone been ticketed in a parking lot? Hook a brotha up!

P.S. Anyone in the twin cities area that wants to ride... Holla!

Re: Stunting is a crime?

What you need to do is find the release form and have the owner of the property sign it so you can legally use there parking lot with no liability. My buddy found a release form on this site somewhere, he printed a bunch out and we plan to take them to many sites with huge parking lots to try and get permission. It makes it legal so no tickets. Finding someone to sign it is another question...I'm sure someone can direct you to the release form or just draft one up yourself...good luck.

They can't ticket you on private property, unless someone complains......but, get a waiver.

Re: Stunting is a crime?

depending where you are some states are different they can still get you for reckless if there isn't a barrier to keep the public out of the lot. My friend has permission at his work which is out in the country and he was riding in the lot and sheriff said that since it was a business and the parking lot was acessable to the public he could not ride there because it was still considered reckless driving. It's bullshit but thats how it works

Re: Stunting is a crime?

caution tape, cones--those are'nt appropriate barriers. I know cuz we got shut out of our spot and we had cones up. You need a permanent fence staked into the ground around the entire parking lot. <--Thats exactly what the cops told us.

Re: Stunting is a crime?

Actually, There is only 2 ways to get a ticket on Private Property. 1 Crash and injure someone else or anothers property. 2. DUI/DWI..... That's it......

Private Property is private, access to the public is fine but citations/tickets ONLY apply to roadways (PUBLIC)!!!! If the officer attempts or does to write a cite on private property.... You make a complaint on the officer and take the ticket to court it should be Dropped!!!!

The officer/deputy still has to prove reckless (ie Endanger lives/property) - Crash ect....Just riding NO!!!

And the Officer CAN'T revolk permission, and the property owner can trespass the officer off of the private property....(TRUE STUFF)

wrong, read the law book, if there is public access to the road then all v n t laws apply, there must be a permanent fixture blocking the access to the public raodway on order to omit traffic laws. in some states, like here in ny, doing wheelies or stoppies is not illegal and they cant get you for wreckless endangerment if you are in an empty parking lot so as long as your wearing a helmet theres really not much they can ticket you for unless the owner of the property has previously asked you to leave then u get a trespassing ticket.

you said it yourself, access to the road, or public roadway. a parking lot is not a road. neither is private property. by that broad of a definition the cops could give you a ticket in your own driveway because it obviously has access to the road. i know lots of people with dirtbike and quad tracks on their property, there's nothin the cops can do about that and their property has to be connected to a roadway somehow, as with almost every peice of property, you have to get there somehow.with permission there shouldn't be much they can do. if you do get ticketed, take it court. it should get thrown out.
