Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

People can roll 800-1000 feet with stock clipons ... DB bars may be easier for some but I don't think its cheating ... and I personally do not like them.

I did stoppies with my stock clip-ons on my F2, they kinda sucked cause I was used to DB bars on my stunt moped... But after a couple of practice sessions I was used to it... After a while I bought DB bars, and it's true what Gorka said, I felt more confident. But I thought it was more because I was used to it more then to clip-ons.

My stoppies stayed the same though

But this sport is all about fun, and how you do it... FREEstyle, like said before, so everyone is free to modify whatever he wants on his bike, dispite the fact that there will always be people calling them cheaters...

But look at some great stuntriders, like kevin Carmeichel, he also has different bikes, set-up for different tricks... What's wrong with that ? If he likes it that way, and the crowd loves his show i don't see a problem that way...

I see a huge difference betweens American stuntriders, and European stuntriders... The main difference is, that American stunters seem to have problems with modifying their bikes for certain tricks, and European riders don't seem to bother...

American riders seem to care more about how tough they look, and how much respect they will get from other riders, then to make fun, and just respect every rider...

Keep this sport the way it is, everyone's free to do whatever he like's most, and just respect that... If you can't stand the fact that you're gettings you're *** beat during a stoppie contest by someone with DB bars, just shut up and practice harder ! or buy DB bars yourselve if you think that's easyer ! Don't go call him a cheater, that's just weak

GREAT THREAD ! :YEAH

Well said, I tried to post a few times in this thread but couldn't make up a good post. I pressed the back button to cancel it, thanks for filling me in

If you're going to put DB bars in a different class you might as well give Jason Pullen or whatever his name was extra points when he joins a competition on his Harley, because it's harder to stunt than a F4i

i still love my db bars but thwn in the same im tired of hereing the croud and random people (not stunters ) aske me is that a dirt bike oh he sets his bike up that way thats why he can do all of that. so im going back to clipons and full fairings but maby some taller clipons like heli bars

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

I was at work at i came up with an idea that would even the open class and 600 class so stoppie money wouldnt have to be split up. Instead of designated run up distances. have a designated speed. maybe use a cheap version of timing equipment used in the pits of race tracks, then it can easily be relayed to remote red or green light which would be green (appropriate speed) and red (toofast/too slow). Have the green light come on in a 2-3 mph window so that it would be easier to hold. iono. could be a ridiculously stupid idea but hey, im throwing it out there.

If everyone likes it, I have access to a radar unit and a speed trailer like the ones used to show your speed on the HWY/Side streets ect.....

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

I think someone said this already, but I'll say it again since this thread keeps on rolling on.

DB bars are called DB bars for a reason.

They are for DIRTBIKES!!

If you want some more leverage for some reason just turn your stock clipons out a little bit. 2 cent

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

Matt I felt more comfortable with stock b/c they were a little higher….especially trying to roll crossover, I think I’m going to try the old Thew risers to the clip ons.

NME! I was referring to our conversation about me testing out your bike at TN on Sunday, but it starting raining on us

Let me elaborate on my point to clear a few things up. This doesn’t apply directly to me at all, I don’t care what anyone looks like or how there bike is setup until: if a guy on a stock 2000 Gsxr 600 enters a stoppie comp against an 2006 Gsxr 1000 with fully race prepped suspension and motor work IS THAT FAIR? DOES IT MATTER? Or should the weak be fed to the lions? After hosting several competitions I think it is unfair, but there is currently nothing to do about it because of the lack of riders at competitions

300ft from 150 is gangster, kind of hard to believe on a 600….he must have NOS

I’m personally satisfied with 400ft, most of the time that is useless at shows but I am content with it.

so basically we can no longer ride our 'stunt'bikes on the 'street' (i.e. 'steet'bike = skreet riding)

dang dude, looks like your comute to work just changed to parking lots (since you have the 'stunt' edition) and dirt roads/paths (since you added the db setup option)

if i were you might be a good idea to tell the boss you're gonna be a little late!

You all are arguing JUMBO...shrimp!!! peace I'm out

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

what you call "dirtbike bars" are just bars, theyve been used on bikes of all classes since the beginning of bikes. why isnt it called dirtbike bars when a harley has them?? or an sv?? a z1000?? its clip ons that are for the race track in order to give a more aerodynamic flow to the bike and rider, certainly not for better control in stunt riding. who gives a **** what bars you have, ive ridden with both and respect both, its all riding, stop crying cuz u mistake someones talent for an equipment advantage.

Don't remember thew's setup....Fill us in. As far as the 400footers go, I feel ya. I like a nice comfortable 300 ft floater stoppie as much as the next guy. To me, 300 ft separates the men from the boys. Anything more than that is a matter of a persons drive to go far. If you can roll 300, you deserve the right to say you can roll long stoppies......Less than that, you're just rolling stoppies....make sure to leave "long" out.

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

I personally think comps should have a "timed" limited approach stoppie...Would not only love to compete in one, but would really like to watch it too...Thats one way to make it a little more fair as far as having a liter bike vs 600 I believe...If you have hangtime, thats where it's at in my opinion.

That is a great idea.

And after some consideration from my last post, I'm not discrediting anyone rolling less than 300 feet. I do think 300 feet is a determining factor for going the distance, but not saying if you roll less than that you should give up or be ashamed whatsoever.....What I'm saying is if you can roll 300, the feet just seem to add up quickly after that point.
Enough babble.
