just got a drz 400 last week. ITS A BLAST!!! feels sorta like a big 50. the honda 400/650 i bet is just as good. the 450 is wery nice bike too but i think its alittle too fragile and expensive for me (alot faster than the suzuki/honda 400/650`s too). just make sure you buy a japanease bike. enjoy!!!

Re: Which supermoto besides crf450?
why not just buy a 450 thomas and MAKE it street legal. im sure you can find a website that sells kits to do it. shouldnt be too hard to do.
if i had my own choice of which to get...itd probably be the yamaha or suzuki rmz450. reliable as hell...and pimp to boot.

the price of the 450 plus the wheels tires and brakes.. then having to do some BS to make it streetable = garbage
the husky is expensive.. but it comes set up pretty much

Thomas I don't know what your talking about . The Huskys in motard trim are way cheaper then setting up a Honda or Yamaha.
Honda engines cannot handle any sort of road trips they usually require a new piston after 20 hrs of use. KTM is not much better . Yamaha WR 450 is good but still expensive to convert over. Mind you the all the 450's will rip and put a big smile on your face but they are high maintenance.
For street rips get the Husky they are built for hard use and hold up well.
I went with the 610 for stunting because it has an electric fan and coolant over flow. You can do burnouts for quite a while before it boils over. All the other bikes don't have an over flow so they puke rad coolant every where.
DRZ's are a great bullet proof do all motard , but everyone I know spends at least $2000 making them go faster and become lighter.
Personally I had the 510 for racing and the 610 is my new stuntbike, it's so easy to ride and the Brembo brakes are amazing.

the honda is less OTD but its costs a couple grand more to set it up

If your doing burnouts or slow speed stuff it boils over and pukes half the rad.
In a routing you just do a couple burnouts and a few crowd pleasing high speed endos to cool the bike down if you don't have a resevoir or a fan.

Re: Which supermoto besides crf450?
For street rips the 510 or 450 works great but there not great highway riders, The 610 is way heavier but a good all round bike. I had a 06 SMR 510 and with a jet kit it dynoed 60hp it was stupid fast. But as a all round bike the 610 is a better stuntbike.

Re: Which supermoto besides crf450?
KTM's don't say "for off road use only" anywhere on the certificate of origin. I've got a KTM SX 400 (the earlier 2000 model before they were 450's), it's strictly a motocross bike. I walked into the DMV and walked out with a plate and a title in the mail without any trouble at all. Spent just over $100 on an enduro wiring harness and a votage regulator and I'm ready to put lights on it an ride the streets. I have less than $2000 total into my motard so far. Note the 17" wheels and the 320mm rotor/BRAKING caliper.
