i bought a brand new HJC for 60 bux the other day.. fits better than my Large shoei and i can actually turn my head on the freeway and not worry about the helmet floppin around.. so i got no probs with HJC.

im with ya on the nice helmet but how many folks do you think wanna spend 5 or 6 hundred bux on a lid?!?!?

i know i didnt i went out and bought a HJC for 60 bux its no arai or shoei but it does the trick.. plus if you know a artist you can make a HJC look like whatever you want.
but the ventilation is another question

 

Scorpion helmets look pretty good to me and are decent priced. Anybody rocking those?

I would buy a new lid if mine was cracked. As for what kind...I like the HJC...That was my first helmet time I could buy my Shoei. It has much better ventilation. What ever you do don't throw the cracked lid out. It makes a great shop or garage piece. Not to mention a great conversation piece. Hope your crash didn't hurt to bad.

thats not true ... a helmet that costs $150 is most likely made out of cheeper materials than a helmet that costs $500 ... im not talking about graphics and stuff .. just plain helmets ..

i think arai is the best brand ... out of all the helmets i've had i think they've had the best ventilation and they are the most comfortable

 

You pay for the name my freind that is it! snell and dot aproved means it is a safe well made helmet.

 

i agree with everyone else its ur head ur talking about helmets are pricey but at the same time you don't want to mess around and have it split in half the next time you go down then its not going to do you any good, replace it

im not saying your not paying for the name at all ... if its snell and dot approved its good ... but just because its approved doesnt mean its just as good as any other helmet ... like i said before a $150 helmet that is snell and dot is prob made of different material than a $4-500 snell and dot helmet ... id personally rather have the better helmet

there was this good article in sport rider about 8 or 12 months ago that was all about helmets and the testing and standards yknow your also supposed to replace your helmet when you drop it or it falls its mainly about the foam on the inside like someone said and the standards are what determins the foam if you got a snell check to see if the foam is dented from your head if not then it wasn't that hard but if your shell cracked and its a snell.. you should be dead. so i don't think the crack is as bad as you said but anyways just get a helmet with two standards on it snell dot or the brittish standard and dot and you'll be fine never just get a dot helmet... thats a waste of your time but i wish i had the hour or so to retype that article .. mebbe i'll do it if someone is interested.
