A helmet is only good for one impact, replace it. If you're just riding parking lots, just get something cheap.

I a moron becaues i am being truthful. The dude ask if he should buy another 500.00 helmet because he hit it once. i stated my opinion and most likely what most stunters would do. If you think he should replace it im willing to be you dont stunt (ie. stunting is not riding poping wheelies on the highway)

Re: smashed my new helmet

I agree with the helmet is only good for one impact... but i dont agree with just get something cheap.

I mean this is your head your talking about.
it doesnt take very much of an impact to seriously injury or kill yourself.

had you not been wearing your helmet in an instance where you cracked the shell.. ya thats brain matter my friend.

if there is only part of your riding equipment not to cheap out on it is your helmet. buy a quality helmet that fits correctly.

not all shoei's are 600.00 there are a variety of very good helmets all priced decently.

as far as HJC goes... HJC makes icon helmets... i found my icon helmet to be as comfortable as say... a 5 gallon bucket on my head.
but it was cheap.

either way helmets are designed to take one good hit... the foam inside shatters to disperse the energy so your mellon doesnt get as much of an impact..

there are 3 hits in an accident

your helmet hitting the ground
your head hitting your helmet
your brain hitting your skull

the last impact is what kills you....and the foam shell is what slows the last 2 impacts down..

no i dont stunt but that really doesnt have **** to do about anything....that fact is that even a light hit could damage a helmet and you'd never know by looking at it.....it's just like crumple zones in new cars. I would agree that multiple slow crashs arent gonna make a differnce...but take that same helemt and on the ride home someone pulls out in front of you and you wreck at speed you'll wish you had a new helmet....

as for the high end helmets....they aren't going to protect your head better in a crash better then any other helmets...as long as they have the right approvals(DOT, SNELL). but they will fit better, vent better, be lighter have cooler graffics and all of that...

the reason HJC helmets can be sold so cheap is because they only make 1 shell and size the helmets with the foam...so there is less overhead....and they are loud and tend to be heavy..so teh fit and finish isn't that of an Arai or a Shoei..

Arai make 3 differernt shells for their 3 shapes and they also make smaller shells for the smaller size so they will wiegh less...

buying a $600 helmet for stunting is retarded....most racers in this area use HJC..myself included. I own an arai, 2 shoei's, 2 hjc and a kbc....my hjc gets the most use...
