Bicycle wheelie = Motorcycle wheelie?

If you want to wheelie with motors should you be able to wheelie with pedals? Or are they completely different?

i used to ride bmx alot could manual pretty far but nothing like wheelies on a streetbike in my opinion. Guess you could get a feel for what the balance point is. Get a fifty to learn on or something like that.

Re: Bicycle wheelie = Motorcycle wheelie?

no body will pick up balance point on the bicycle instantly if they haven't had any experience with it before.

balance point is SO narrow on a bicycle that if you don't use the brake, you WON'T be able to balance one for more than a couple hundred feet at best.

you need to be smooth on both the pedals and on the brake. just as you do on a big bike (except throttle instead of pedals)

Bicycle wheelies/coasters will help you get used to going in and out of balance point and learning side to side balance. some of the techniques for brake control you use will also help(they helped me on the fiddy, i was using the foot brake like my handbrake in a matter of hours)

if you really wanna learn the basics of brake control and balance point, a fiddy or 125 would be MUCH better than a bicycle. if a bike is all you got than go ahead and rock it.

don't think a 40 foot power wheelie on a bicycle is "balance point"

if you got BP, you should be able to do this:

this is me after about one year of doing **** on my bicycle:

bicycle's hold alot of potential tho.....

and yes, they are completely different, but also alike in that your trusting the brake and balancing on one wheel.

getting comfortable trusting the brake to safe yourself and balancing side to side on anything will most likely help you on the big bikes, but there are better ways.

Not even comparable.
I know people that can ride wheelies on bicycles...and can't even throw a leg over a motorcycle.

Re: Bicycle wheelie = Motorcycle wheelie?

IMO, bicycles are way harder... I rode bmx and raced for years but could only wheelie for maybe 10 seconds

On my R6 I can wheelie from one fway exit to the next :YEAH

I think if you can rock bike wheelies youll be able to motor wheelie no prob.
That is only if you learn how to ride a motorcycle first, i rode dirt bikes so i had no learning curve when it came to street and it seemed easy.
