MXD cage doesn't fit :(

g'day guys,

i bought a MXD cage for my 2001 gsxr some months ago.

when i finally got round to fitting the cage it wouldn't fit. the left side either of the mounts would line up and the right wasn't much better.
i need took it to the local mech who said it won't fit either.

i contacted Jeff at MXD who basically said theres no way the cage couldn't fit because its made on the bike, and to send it in, and IF it doesn't fit their bike i will get the postage refunded and a new cage sent out.

okay that sounds fine, first problem is i'm in australia, so sending the cage back will cost me a lot of money. i decided i would take photos of me trying to fit the cage and send them to Jeff (at the same time asking for their return address)...

he hasn't responded to the pm i sent him here, and his email address has bounced back each time i try send one.

anyone bought anything off MXD lately? are they still in business or have i been left with a $280 piece of useless metal?

here are the photos...

can someone please help me...

Remind me never to buy a MXD if thats how you have to install. Whats there company moto? " Just make it close enough to bang it in place"

I can see all your friends down under saying" Man how your cage get all bent up like that, did you wreck hard"? Then you say "No thats what I had to do to install it".

Re: MXD cage doesn't fit :(

i sent you a pm saying to send it back. i will pay the shipping & send you another cage. i said if it did fit then you pay shipping & i will send the cage back. but im not going to send you an extra cage without having the other one here. my email is jrirwin@inlandtruss.com it looks like a 04-05 cage. but either way, i still want that cage back before i send you a new one.

Re: MXD cage doesn't fit :(

that cage will probably work it looks like you need to start all the bolts then tighten all of them down. try a little harder

+1
just like 905 or any other cage u have to start each mounting bolt just a little, line it up, start the other bolts and then tighten all the way, try that because i doubt that cage is even off, just needs to be lined up correctly

Re: MXD cage doesn't fit :(

You shouldn't have to fvck with it, there are too many things to bend and smash already.. My FI cage went on my '00 gsxr like butter, they're so tight they go for walks in the park and snuggle at movies.
