stoppie fork settings?

is adjusting ur forks important for learning? i hear you should set both adjustments stiff as possible? will it make a difference at the beginner level or is this more for the guys that already rolling them and trying to squeeze out more?

Personally, I set everything to stiff, rebound and compression. It helps in the rear too, to transfer braking force properly, instead of into the swingarm bouncing all around under you.

In the front it won't "pogo" under you when you bring it up if it's stiffer.

I think it helps me get the brake response I put into it, instead of loosing some to suspension movement.

Re: stoppie fork settings?

if u run everthing stiff do u loose anything else? like in most cases there is usauly a trade off? one of my friends was telling me not to do it cuz i wont be able to keep fork seals from blowing? i have a 03 gsxr 1000 and im 145lbs. if that matters

so does tightening up the suspension overall, front and back, screw with the overall corning of the bike when riding street?

yes obviously its gonna change your cornering ability and so on thats common sense. if your a big twisties guy and like to drag knees dont do it, take your pic in what you wanna do stunt or street ride or have 2 bikes or just dont ride streets like a badass and youll be fine.

run all my bikes stiff for stoppies and never once blew a fork seal so id say your friend is clueless. at 145lbs i wouldnt go completely tight with everything but maybe 1 or 2clicks back from full stiff on comp and rebound

Re: stoppie fork settings?

Start with static sag set up then 75% on everything else. Good for all riding.

It's all personal preference. Most like them set pretty stiff but some pro's like Bill Dixon run really hard rebound and soft compression for easy pick up.
