Talking Mystery Gixxer K. what could it be?

Alright, me and my team have been debating about a friend's bike. He has an '01 Suzuki GSXR 1000. Looks like a normal GixxerK, w/ a TRS Yoshi pipe, and that's it.... What boggles our mind is, this thing isn't normal. I say this, cuz as sad as it sounds, when it comes to wheelies, this guy is champ. . BUT ! ! He only powers it up. . . Sounds normal and all, except he could power it up in 3rd gear, at about 80 mph, and 2nd gear at any speeds below it. . It'll power up in 2nd gear, at about 5MPH! ! ! My other homie rode the bike to move it, and the thing just jerked from under him. . . He said "That's not normal. There's gotta be something in the bike."

From the exterior, it looks totally stock. It has a stock rear sprocket and all, just a 905 cage. The owner bought this bike used, and just added the cage. . That's it.. We were wondering, if anyone thinks this could be just a small a$$ front sprocket, or something done to the engine. . . Any thoughts?

lol.. I've ridden a homie's '04 GixK a few times. . . and took that specific '01 gixxer out once. There's definitely a huge difference. It might have cams, because it does have an unsteady idle. But would that alone do it? We all just think he got lucky with this bike. . . But geez

Re: Mystery Gixxer K. what could it be?

I ain't even in the discussion about the wheelies, but I think I know what specific bike he is referring to and I also rode it before. That particular bike is ALOT faster than any other I have been on including the brand new 1000 that is supposedly lighter and faster. I do know that the one I'm talking about has a Power Commander and TRE, but it is extraordinarily fast!

I would get myself into alot of trouble if I owned it.

alot of bikes are put togather with in certin tolerances. he may have one of those bikes that had everything done right at the factory. They did the cyl right. the throt bodies are set perfect and machined right. just one of those bikes where they took extra care at the factory. They are out there and its things like honing and cleaning when putting it togather that gets some of that extra power.

Re: Mystery Gixxer K. what could it be?

probably way down in the front. check the front sprocket. You can go all the way down to a 13T sprocket in the front. -4 is huge. I had a -4 and a stock gixxer 600 rear on a 750 and it felt like I was 12-15 up in the rear with a stock look.
