Problem when stand up wheelie, rear end wriggles ???????
I got my wheels powdercoated. When I got them back on (they're nice) and did a standup, the rear started to wriggle side to side. It does it when you get the bike almost to balance point. It has never done this before. The wheel isn't bent or anything. Could I have done something wrong when I put it back on? I has done it with 2 different tires and they have both been balanced. Any ideas??
The first tire was the same almost toast tire I had on before(180). The second tire was a 200 that I had had on before.
There is the same amount of space on each side of the adjustments.
I always run 36 psi. Thanks all.

did you say the tire was almost toast? in ones of the sticky's they say that wheeling on a toasted tire will cause your wobble. might try a new tire, i dunno. Pressure might be a little high too... I'm no expert on this..

Another thing is did the heat take away any of the temper?
I was going to get my wheels chromed till a Suzuki Rep said not to. I asked why he said it takes the strength out of the wheel. He had an issue with a customer that landed a stand up wheelie and the front wheel shattered in hundreds of pieces.

Re: Problem when stand up wheelie, rear end wriggles ???????
that is normal for the most part. wheelies at highway speeds with tend to cause the rear wheel to "walk" from side to side. almost all of the time you can just ride it out unless it gets really bad. but your psi is too high. try running around 24psi for highway wheelies. and new tires are not very good for wheelis either because of the coned edge when they are new. worn tires are better. lower your psi and just ride it out. (i don't know how your bike rode befor the powder coating, but wobbles during wheeling at highway speeds are normal.)
Re: Problem when stand up wheelie, rear end wriggles ???????
ive never heard anyone say that chroming rims takes away strength, that sounds like some serious bs, and all you people are throwing out conflicting information to this dude
take the rim off, get it rebalanced, put it back on, if its still doing it, put a different rim on it with a balanced tire, what choice do you have? see how it does

Re: Problem when stand up wheelie, rear end wriggles ???????
It never used to wobble. It gets to bad to ride out. It scares the sh*t out of me. The tire on it now is a used 200 series Maxxis. I'll probably pull it off and check the bearings, I know the center(behind the cush drive) wasn't to good. Thanks all.
Re: Problem when stand up wheelie, rear end wriggles ???????
like dan said i think a lot of it is probaly tire pressure. when i ran that much mine were really unstable and id get wobbles like crazy. i think mine is around 25 psi and i get a little bit of wobble sometimes but hardly noticeable
Re: Problem when stand up wheelie, rear end wriggles ???????
Tire pressure and maybe the road you were on had rain grooves or something. Drop ur pressure. And stop doing squidly **** like getting your tires powdercoated! Just ride it stock, runs better that way anyway. j/k my man...hope you get rid of the shakes.

on this issue, but I ride the same model bike that you have listed under your name and I used to wobble, before I got decent at doin' freeway type stuff. 1. How fast are you riding these wheelies, my first problem was I was picking the bike up at too fast of a road speed. 2. I can tell you that since I've gotten to be decent at freeway type stuff, anything more than 20 psi in my rear tire is way too much. I've been out for a while, but I graduated to parking lot stuff b/4 my freeway accident last year. I don't know about the powder coating thing, I've never done that, but if your just now noticing this that may be an issue....I don't know, I'm not one for trying to pontificate as to what's wrong I just go and fix it. Which is the reason I hit the ground so much. Btw why do you have a 200 tire on your bike? I like the 190 and I wouldn't put anything but a Dunlop on my bike........Ex- Roadracer.........Just my
....Late..and good luck...:YEAH
Re: Problem when stand up wheelie, rear end wriggles ???????
It cost me $120 for the powdercoating. $60 a wheel.
I have the 200 on because my other tire was fried. It was laying around. I usually run a Diablo 180.
I usaully lift the bike up in 3rd gear at about 55mph. It starts the wobble right before balance point. It done it everytime, every road, since coating.
Maybe my air gauge it screwed up. And I really have more.

pretty much what dan said, and check ur tire pressure, make sure ur clutching up smooth, other then that u can usually just ride out of little wobbles like that, u get u used to them at that speed
