HELP-How to install new front/rear springs, and install new BBR handlebar with cables
I know this may sound extremely stupid, but im pretty mechanically inclined!
I just recently got a Fiddy, and bought some heavy duty front and rear springs($68) to replace the sorry @$$ stock ones! I also got a BBR handlebar kit w/throttle and cables($135). Im ready to throw all that on, but dont want to mess $hit up.
Can anyone direct me through..on how to install this stuff, or maybe a link with some pics? THANKS

Two Bros has some really nice Installation Instructions. They will give you a little better idea on what needs to be done. Check them out they are all in .PDF format so you will need Acrobat Reader.

AMM82,

I also have the same mods that need to be put on. I am having problems with my BBR bar kit. I can't get the slider to sink right to get the throttle to work. When I start the bike it idles high as hell and won't come down. The throttle won't do anything. I tried to get the slider in the carb many ways and couldn't get it. What should I do to get my bike back on the road. That damn slider, need help!!!

hey man, I had the same damn problem. This is what i did to fix it.
*First install the cable into the carb. You got to play with it alittle, and make sure it fits in correctly. If its not right, it will cause the bike to idle high.
*I started the bike with out hooking up the cable to the actual throttle. The bike should just idle fine, otherwise u put it in wrong. Continue to do this until u get it right.
*Once you get the bike to idle how it normally does, just tug on the cable, and see that it revs up.
*If you make it past there, then ur set...just hook up the throttle, and you should be good to go. hope you get back on the rode.
Re: HELP-How to install new front/rear springs, and install new BBR handlebar with cables
I had the same problem when I moved my throttle cable to the other side of my frame. The slide (throttle valve) has go in a certain direction. You just have to play with it. The valve will slide all the way down into the carb, as will a section of the spring, once you have it in correctly.
To test you can twist the throttle it should snap back if it doesnt its not in correctly.
As for the BBR springs. I really like them! They arent near as bouncy and I imagined them being. They actually feel pretty good. Im glad I decided to stick with BBR and not applied or something along those lines.

ok I got the slider to work now I am back on the road. Now I have to get the idle to run right and everything will be good. Does anyone know the idle screw and air and gas mixture screw settings?

Sorry, I dont know what the settings on the stock carbs are suppose to be. I had a problem with my idle to.. I just played with it for a little while until it seemed to be running better.
Hopefully someone knows, Id like to make sure mine are correct too.

Re: HELP-How to install new front/rear springs, and install new BBR handlebar with cables
Anyone else have this problem installing thicker springs up front?
I just did an install for my roomie's fiddy putting some Fast 50's springs on the front, and I noticed that they went on a bit snug ie didn't thread on real easy compared to stock, due to the larger diameter of the spring wire. Upon closer examination, I noticed the aluminum on the spring retainer thingy getting chewed a bit as the larger diameter spring made its own channel threading on. Is this bad? With some elbow grease, I got them to work just dandy, but was just a bit concerned after I saw metal shavings start to fall.
Otherwise, everything worked out fine, even after my 235 pound *** jumped a small ramp with it. Anyone else see this same issue?

Thats normal. I used the Two Bros instructions when I installed my BBR. It says right in the instructions that it will do that. Which mine did as well. I wouldnt worry to much about it aslong as everything went back together okay.
Re: HELP-How to install new front/rear springs, and install new BBR handlebar with cables
One other tip for the bar kits: My BBR kit went on perfect in one shot, but my buddy's kit didn't seem to spring back..and the slide was in right. The problem was the throttle tube wasn't lubed where it goes inside the perch. We sprayed some white lithium grease on it and put it back together, and presto.

Oh, and I just finished the rear spring install tutorial. It's on our site in the how-to section:
