Shifting has nothing to do with how fast they will go... yes 30-40 is about right .

I am 160 pounds and I have an XR50 with a BBR 82cc kit, an 18mm carb, stock gearing, stock rear tire, no spark arrestor and mine will do 42mph on a flat road as verified by my TomTom GPS. I've have it doing 50mph down a hill beside my buddie's Honda Trail 70.

2005 crf 50, gps 34 mph all stock motor and sprockets and i weigh 200 lbs
