Re: questions on painting frames...

dogger
powder coating is the best if you want it to stay on for like a show bike stuff
some guys use spray can cause you can nib it with some sand paper and do touch ups when needed
to each his own all a matter of what floats your boat
i dont particularly like the rattle can cause the clear isnt as pretty
but if your gonna be scratchin it up alot its probably the easiest way to do it
i painted mine with regular automotive base coat clear coat paint im a painter so its no biggie for me to touch it up

Re: questions on painting frames...

its just a 50....rattle can that bitch

its gonna get messed up anyhow...i dont care what these people tell you.
you can spend $3 on a can of paint...or a $100 or $200 for powder coating.

but after $3 paint job...and you mess it up...would you care?
now if you have $100-$200 in it and mess it up ...are you upset?

dood, i just did a frame with this **** from wal-mart. its spray on bedliner in a can. cost about $6 and gives u that textured look a bit and dont scratch off very easily. its like a satin black. try it out.

Re: questions on painting frames...

If you want it to look good and be durable, i would definitely go with powdercoating.

Re: questions on painting frames...

If you clear it's durable, especially if you just stunt. Just make sure and use the same brand clear and base paints or you can get an undesired reaction. Also spray the clear after the base becomes tacky/stringy to the touch, not completely dry, or the clear will eat the base and you will get a wrinkled effect ......don't ask. But check mine out on the contest thread I think it looks pimp.

I did a bunch of rifle stocks and the bumper of my jeep with that stuff. It's really easy to apply smoothly and is extremely durable. It came out looking good on everything I've done. Although I think it's impossible to remove short of sand-blasting.

Re: questions on painting frames...

check it (https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/13-xr50-minibike-forums/57817-lil-bodyshop-bling.html), i went for the professional bodyshop paint, but only b/c my boy works there and hooked it up. if he hadn't done it i would've sprayed and baked that biatch, but this way was well worth all the effort cause i usually insist on going all out and doing it the best way...
