Does the spark plug fire every rotation? It would seem that with out a cam position sensor and the pickup sending a signal to the cdi box every rotaion that it would. Plus what would it harm firing the plug on the exhaust stroke other than a little fire out the exhaust once in a while, which 50's seem to do. I'm guessing yes, but does anyone know for sure?

 

yes it does. most small engines do

So all I gots to do is put the flywheel at TDC, the cam on it's mark and slap the cam sprocket on?
