88cc with stock carb?

Anybody run this? What jet and what clip setting do you use? Everything would be stock except for a pod air filter. Does it run strong?

Re: 88cc with stock carb?

you have no idea... seriously, the 88 kit will haul *** even if you keep the stock carb. you'll want to move the clip on the needle down one or two notches but that should be it (maybe some fine tuning of the air screw but nothing too difficult), that's w/ the stock intake, i don't know about a filter. but it'll have so much more torque over stock you'll just laugh your *** of at how unbelievably easy it is to wheelie (or loop it right away, then laugh). a big carb will just make the bike scream like there's no tomorrow (sickly powerful).

Re: 88cc with stock carb?

what jet do i start with for this kit?

edit: Eddie, I just saw this old post of yours "Before I put the big carb and intake on my 50 my bike made 3.6 hp at the rear wheel with the 88cc kit, jetted with foam filter"

What jet were you using that's the same thing I'm gonna be running.

Re: 88cc with stock carb?

kepp everything stock carb air filter and pipe and switch the main jet to a 60 or 62
the bigger air filter wont help you that much at all just make it harder to tune

#60 main jet but you need to go up to a 15 tooth sprocket in front or a 34 Rear if you plan on a Big Bore Kit. Without these changes your motor will Rev way too high and you will lose top end. I lost 4-5mph of top end with the Big Bore and Stock Gearing.

Can you explain how you lost top end by installing the big bore? To me a gear ratio is a gear ratio. With the BB it just seems like you would get to the top end quicker than you can with a stock bore.

Not flaming,just discussing.

im with u bikefrk. never heard of no $hit like that. it might feel that way being that u have so much power, it just sits there on the chip. its hard to do that on a stock motor unless going down a hill.

I have a 18 MM carb PLEASE BUY IT! If you want a lot more top end than you are going to want to go with a CDI box and carb!

Re: 88cc with stock carb?

Believe what you want guys, the 88cc lost me about 4 mph of top end. I have the dyno graph and you can ask any of the guys I rode with on the cannonball run. My 88 was running fine but it reved so High I thought I would blow the motor. I couldn't even keep it pinned open. We adjusted the carb again and again with the same results. Way crazy bottom end and no top end. I put a 15 tooth on the front and a 35 on the rear and a 20mm carb. The thing runs like a bat out of hell now about 3 mph faster than the next closest CRF I ride with and the guy who rides it is about 50 lbs lighter than me.

You can believe what you want but I'm telling you what happened.

Re: 88cc with stock carb?

Dont waste your time with anything other than a 20mm carb.If your head is stock and not ported make sure you get a taperd intake 20mm to 13mm (stock)If you run a stock carb with an 88cc kit it will be all bottom. On top it will be the same as a stock 50 you will just get there quicker. If you have a ported head and/or a big carb you still need to change your gearing.Try 16/38 it seems to be a good set up for most tracks.

If you gear it like i said It will rip all the way through.Right now 1st gear probably isnt useable. With the gearing I posted you use 1st and 2nd mostley unless you are on a wide open track.
