Loose fork legs
Loose fork legs
I have fork springs and heavy duty bushings but my legs are more wobbly then before. Is there somehting i need to do to make them tighter??? Its very hard to ride like this because the front end does what it wants. please help!
Re: Loose fork legs
ok your first post says the legs are loose.. now you're saying they are tight?
sanding them is only going to make them looser.....when you said "they are both extremely tight" did you mean the bolts i talked about or the fork legs???
need to know exactly what you mean to give you the right advice

Re: Loose fork legs
if they are still loosae after putting in delrin bushings i don't know what to tell you except maybe you put them together wrong... every set of bushings i've done have been really tight and felt nice at first and only loosened up some after a year or so of abuse..
what kind of bushings..brand ..are they

Re: Loose fork legs
read your crf 50 manual, it tells you you need like a pound of grease in dem dear forks, after i put in my bushings, i had no problem.. as long as that snap ring is set properly, and you got a butt load of grease. you shouold be alright.... first time i did it , the snap ring wasnt set in the groove(forks will move, and seem bent foward/back). if your ring is good, check the grease, i squeezed a good half a coffee can size container of white lith grease in there, and had no problem... this is after i replaced the springs, tubes and bushings. check your rings, and the top bold on your forks.... if that dont take care of the problem... go buy some marzocchi's
Re: Loose fork legs
read the instruction for installing the bushings, i know they have a lip that either needs to be on the top or bottom, ii'm not sure, but that could be how you installed them wrong... after you take those forks apart a few times( believe me it gets easier eveytime) you can just tell what the problem is , there's only 3 actual mechanical parts to those forks, the inner fork tube, the spring and the bushing... all that goes inside the outer tube, so if it's not the spring or the tube, it's your bushing, and if it all fits up good but you get that slop, check the snapring, then invest in some inverted forks
