Re: clutch problem..

make sure the locking ears are all folded back so the nut can turn free. you do have the clutch tool socket and NOT a hammer and chisel correct???

Re: clutch problem..

Sorry to jack the thread but:

Hey Fab this reminds me of a question I wanted to ask you when I was doing my light mod.. what does a fly wheel holder look like for these things and where do you find one? I didn't see one on dratv.com. I got the remover and it works like a champ but I had a bitch of a time keeping that sucker in place while breaking it loose with the remover.. I ended up using one of my (many :P) punctured tubes I just cut it down and wrapped it around it with slack on each end and holding down the slack with my feet on one side and the other being pinched between the frame and the milk crate I had the bike sitting on. It worked but not very well. In the future I would like to get ahold of one of those holding tools.

Re: clutch problem..

well, u dont really need one if u take the flywheel nut off with an impact. then when you thread the tool in there, you hold the tool with a wrench and tighten the bolt with another wrench. if you dont have the joy of owning an impact, an oil filter strap wrench will work great. i personally use a pair of vice grips used for metal welding/fabrication. not sure of the exact name of them but they work great as well.

ahh ok, I didn't use the impact. Didn't think about it at the time! I tried using my oil filter wrench but the bastard wasnt big enough hahah. Next time I will break out the impact!

Re: clutch problem..

Those rubber band strap wrenches also work pretty good at holding the clutch in place when taking the nut off. But only if you get most of the oil off the clutch first.
