Need help pretty quick!

Lately my bike has been dying after I start it & ride about 2 miles. It dies while I'm riding... I started letting it warm up longer and it hasn't done it as much. BTW, it only does it after it has sat overnight or for a few hours.

After it dies, the battery hardly starts or doesn't at all! After it starts, it runs rough and either wants to die or dies right away...Like the battery's dead as hell! I finally got it jumped, let it run for about 10 minutes and it rode/acted fine. I got it home & it started right up, first crank.

Question: Is it possible that the battery is ****? The reason it's been doing this is because it's dying slowly? I bought the battery new about 10 months ago...
The voltage regulator & stator are both 10 months old also. I've heard that when a battery is dying, you really can't do anything to get it charged again.

HELP!!!!!

Hey Man....My bike was having similar problems. I found out one of my problems while in the process of tearing her down for the new look. There is a 25amp fuse that that is run from the stator up near the battery. I checked mine and it was blown.

On the GSXR the main problem was normally the rectifier. Bring your bike over on Monday and we can look it over at the same time we put my bike together .

Re: Need help pretty quick!

Go to auto zone and have them check the battery and see if it is holding a charge, or charging at all.

Rectifer is all good and bought a new battery yesterday...
BITCH STILL DIED TWICE TODAY!!!!!!!! It started right back up and ran fine...until it sat again for about another hour & a half.

Will it die-N-**** like that if the carbs are dirty & need to be adjusted?
I have to choke that bitch until it warms up...even if it's 80*! I talked to my buddy that went to MMI and he said that I should'nt have to choke it in this warm weather.

I was just going to say that.. Go to an auto parts store and get a bottle of brand name carb cleaner additive and pour half that bitch in a full tank of gas.. ride the bitch hard for about a half tank then go fill up again and see what happens

My favorite is B-12 Chemtool. There's a bunch of cleaners out there, but some are pretty weak. ...

Chem Tool is some good ****....

It is made by berryman.... ( you can get it at most automotive places or even at walmart) I get the gas tank additive but you may have to break down the carbs for some cleanin' and then may need the spray...

It's a 16OZ bottle though...
It won't hurt to put in the rest of the bottle?
On the bottle, it said that if it has a tank that's less than 16 gallons, to use 1 OZ per gallon. I'm not sure how many gallons my tank is, so I put in 5 OZ's.
I rode it for a little bit and it STILL died!

Re: Need help pretty quick!

You put in about right. I normally use about 1/5 the bottle. You might have to pull the carbs as they may be gunked up. You could still take the carbs and the parts and soak them in it and that'll loosen up some of that ****.

When was the last time you cleaned the carbs?

How long had it been sitting?

Had it always acted like this?

Did it act like this after you rode it hard? If so then have you checked your plugs? Did you change them? Were they clean and then all of a sudden foul again and runs groggy and boggly?

Gotta narrow this down a bit...

I've never cleaned them or had them cleaned since I've owned the bike (10 months). When I bought it, the guy said that it had been setting about a year to a year & a half.
It's only been doing this for about the last month. I did put in some new plugs a few months ago, but I haven't checked them.
Would me haveing to choke it all the time have something to do with the carbs & the way it's acting?
The battery thing I believe was just from trying to crank it over too long after it died.
Thank you guy's for all your help...I don't have the cash to take it to a shop to have it worked on, plus I need to try to figure this **** out and work on it myself like I do my cars.
