chain question??

I just ordered a -1 in the front and a +4 in the rear and was wondering if my stock chain is long enough. My stock chain on my R1 is 530-114 link. Does anyone know for sure if it will work cause if it won't I'd like to order a chain as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance...

I am not sure, it might fit but if it does it is going to be really tight. I have always heard that you should change them at the same time anyway because the chain stretches. I don't do it though because I am broke. Good luck

It is hard to say honestly. I would say that it is not going to fit. Always order new chain with the sprockets anyway. Then you can go to a 520 width for everything. Save some weight and gain some performance. I don't think it's going to fit. I fit does it will be adjusted all the way up and will be tight. When you do this you risk chucking itman. I would replace.

Yeah, change them at the same time. What is going to happen is if you get a new chain on old sprockets it will wear them down and you'll need a chain WAAAAAYYY sooner than it should be due. My 520 x-ring (newer version of the o-ring) and my -1F / stock 44 rear and that's all I need. I am not taking too much away from my normal upper end and I am gaing more torque down low.....

If not, then just keep them on the whole time until you need a new one and then swap it out or just buy a new set for stuntin' and then when you want to ride then go back to your normal gearing.....

okay I'll order a 120 link chain for this alteration. Now why would you switch to 520 ,I may be a dumbass, but wouldn't it be a bit weaker?

if you get the right 520 chain it will be just as strong as the 530.
a 520 is lighter than the five 530 so you have less spinning weight

you also need to make sure that the sprockets are for a 520 convertion. or else you will wear your chain out!

520 chains have more tensile strength too than the 525 and the 530 even though "smaller" ..........Its better overall....Once again just listen to your stunlife brothers (and few sisters that know technical work) and go with it.. But ask questions so we know what the *** you're thinking. That is if you don't understand.........

Stick with 530. They last longer. The performance boost you get is so small you won't notice it. It's not like your racing or anything. Also which manufacturers make a 520 chain that is stronger than a 525 or 530? I've never seen that.
