tether kill switch on my 929...how to install it

I need help installing my tether (dead man) kill switch on my 929. The kill switch is open when the key is in it, and when you fall off and pull the key it closes the circuit and is suppose to ground out to kill the bike. Where is there a ground out wire? i can't find one.

I though the circuit was closed and then when you pulled it it opened it disconnecting 12 volt but it doesn't work that way so now i'm confused on how to hook it up. please help

Do it the other way, when the tether pulls out it opens the circuit. On my bike, due to a short out in the ignition, I cut wires and hooked them up to a flip switch. It works only when closed, so if you use that to break the connection, it should work. If there was a way to hook it up to your shut off switch on your handbars that'd be easy also.

ya, that would work nice but the switch isn't designed like that, it's designed so that the switch is open when the key is in, and when you fall off hte key comes out and it closes (completes) the circuit.

Odd....well, where there's a will, there's a way, and most likely duct tape. Good luck

basically i have to find a wire that when grounded, it kills the bike. that's what the point of this switch is. i know something is out there because drag racers have to have them.

I found there are 2 types..opened or closed circuit. I think u need the other one. I tried the one off my 3 wheeler and the bike would start when I pulled the tether off..so had to buy a diff one. The new one has 2 wires that get wired in series. cut the plastic on the wire loom going to the rt side switches and find the black wire with light grey tracers (on the 929..just did mine), cut that and wire one kill switch wire to one side and the other kill wire to the other. (so it is inline). off u go. The black wire actually splits into 2 before it goes into the switches..cut it when it is a single wire or take your controls apart to find out which of the 2 it is (you want the one that goes to the rocker on/off switch)...doesnt matter either way.

verticaljay is a decent person
Run it from the coil input to ground open = no ground ignition will run closed will ground out the power.

not sure if it will work but maybe worth a try

Yes do what the guy above says. Ground the primary side of the coil packs. There should be about 5-6 wires total going in to ignition module. You wanna ground the hot wire going into the module. Since electrcity takes the path of least reistance it will follow the new ground you created rather than going to charge the primary side of the coils. If you got any other questions hit me up on aim or 2 way me if ya got a nextel. Im an auto tech and bikes are damn near exactly the same.
