general thoughts

I wanted to get everyones thoughts on a bike I'm thinking of buying. There's a '97 CBR 900 w/14k on it for $3,200. Two brothers full system but needs the 2nd gear shift fork repaired. The bike rides good but I'm leary about the shift fork. Let me know your thoughts. The ssoner the better. From what I can tell it's a good price but wanna get opinions.

I'd buy the bike. THats not too bad of a repair to do yourself as long as you have some knowledge around a shop and you have a service manual. I would try to get some more cheese knocked off the price though.. Find out what a dealership would charge for parts only and subtract that from the 32hundy. I dont know about a honda, but that repair costs about 300-400 bucks (parts only) to do on a gixxer.

Just think about how fun it will be to crack open a case for the first time and fight the allignment of gears. To me, it would be an ok deal, but you might want to have someone do it if you have little experience in assembly of an engine. It also will need to be checked over anyway, 14000 is close to a major check.
