I would just prefer to see the stunting and such done in a controlled setting. Closed course competition as opposed to the streets. I have no beef with stunting at all in and of itself.

He has a valid point. He likes riding his sportbike and chooses to do it in a way that society is okay with.
His wiring is just a little screwy

Stunting done by professionals is just as entertaining to me as racing done by professionals. I do not condone racing or stunting done on the street by squids.

yes, closet stunter FOR SURE.
here's the problem with %90 of the 1000RR.com guys views. they say WE are giving sportbikes bad names, and WE are going to get sportbikes banned.
THEY don't want to get blamed for what WE do.
but what THEY don't realize, is THEY are blaming US for what a select few do.
EVERY SINGLE STUNTER knows the difference between a 2 foot power wheelie, and a 5 mph slow wheelie.
the 1000RR guys don't, they see a kid pull a power wheelie with shorts on and some flip flops, and they instantly assuming it's a stuntrider.
they assume we are all about speed (which is fine, cuase that's what most of them are about too, or they wouldn't be riding 1000RR's)
but again, they DON'T know the difficultly of seat stander circles, or just a 5mph idle wheelie, or a coaster.
and the fact of the matter is they WILL NOT SEE IT until they do those things, which they won't.
quite frankly, because they are scared. they see are fuct up bikes, and they don't want thier bikes fuct up.
that's cool, whatever makes you happy.
but they all gotta realize, they are the pot, and they are calling the kettle black.
we ARE NOT a bunch of 100 mph power wheelie maniacs(just they how the 1000RR guys don't want to be seen as a bunch of wheeling fools), odds are 90% of stunt riders would rather be the guy doing the highchiar circles infront of a crowd of thousands at a stunt comp, instead of doing a 65 mph stand-up down the highway.
however, it takes time and skill, so for the most part they stick to what they are good at

Plain and simple- if you have the talent to do it, get in those competitions and do it right.
I am totally in respect of the skill needed. I am not willing to respect the lack of skill needed to endanger self and public doing any of this (stunting or 100mph power wheelies) on the street.
I joined this site in 2003 because I volunteered to provide EMS services to VMC for their shows, as I have seen quite a few of their shows, have bought all of their DVDs, and am a fan. Plus they are local to me.

got this on the 1000rr forum bold is their reply
Don't hate on a sport you don't know **** about. How in the hell is riding a wheelie or doing a stoppie a sport?
No track suits no safety requirements just a helmet and a set of *****. And a lack of brains.
Grown Some and learn to live with this its not going anywhere. Until enough crash and quit or the fad loses its appeal.
F**K your petition. F**K your stuntin!

Re: Superbikes petition
There are people on the petition against stunting, i cannot control that.
All I asked for as for them to show it in a more positive light, like StuntWars, etc. Not on the streets. Street stunting is no more safe than street racing.

Re: Superbikes petition
I think online petitions are not an effective means of accomplishing anything. And I see no reason to try and have a show cancelled before it has a chance to evolve.
I also think stunters are best represented on tv in a controlled setting, for liability reasons. The individuals shown stunting in traffic can later be sued by some dumbass after they try their first wheelie, and have their first wheelie related yard sale across four lanes of traffic.
Dvds are a little different in my eyes, because it's a niche market and the people buying the dvds are buying something specific to their interests. You are less likely to reach the more impressionable morons of the public mob.
People are in the habit of holding someone else accountable for their screw ups at this point in time, so covering your *** is a good idea.
There are a lot of good reasons to be cautious about the public image of your sport. It's probably best for the sport if you allow for there to be a mainstream side and an outlaw side. That way stunters can make money, and have fun, and nobody has to know.
