Re: do you preload your suspension when you jump?

Preloading gives you more pop when you leave the lip. Some jumps require you to preload in order to be cleared.

How exactly do you pre-load?

Do you just shift your weight down and up right before you hit the jump?

Yeah, and the suspension uncompressing as your coming off the lip kicks the bike up and off the lip. The seat bounce technique is another way to preload and is often used by arenacross and supercross riders.

not normally, but jumps directly out of corners i seat bounce, has more effect then just standing and shuving the bike into the face of a jump IMO.

Re: do you preload your suspension when you jump?

seat bouncing is normally done out of a corner - its unneccessary and slow to seat bounce any other time -

preloading is also usually mostly done on jumps right out of a corner -
most big jumps with plenty of run or steep jumps the suspension will compress almost completely on the face of the ramp anyways which i guess u could say is preloading - when jumping fmx ramps preloading is usually unnecessary for this reason

You mean brake tap to tilt the bike forward? - front or back brake??
I've nearly finished building a 50 foot dirt - dirt jump, and I dont wanna bail the first time I hit it Haha

Re: do you preload your suspension when you jump?

Brake tap= pulling in clutch and taping rear brake, in return will bring your front in down......dont land with your foot on the brake, this is very bad and could cause injury. once you learn this, you will start to learn body english, at least for me thats how it was.
