Where did you mount your rear pegs?

Where did you mount your rear pegs on the axle or drill through the swingarm? Got any pros or cons on which is better?

Ummm wasn't the question where did YOU mount yours? Not where can you mount pegs... I want to know where people have put them, whats worked the best? Has the swingarm bent, did you go through the tube or at the chain guard? Have you had axles bend? Is it easier to bring up with the pegs back on the axles than forward on the arm?

i dont have any on mine yet, but swingarm or axle it will still be easy as hell to bring up, try puttin your knee in the seat and doin a *****, with a foot on a rear peg, your weight will be that far back if not farther.

Re: Where did you mount your rear pegs?

I just mounted it through the axle? it was the easiest way? i didnt need any other hardware but the peg itself. i just took the rear axle out, turned it the opposite way, slipped peg through so head of axle was on the "LEFT SIDE" tightened up the nut on right side and BAM! it took me about 5-6 minutes.

i only have one peg though, not sure if wanted to run with two?

Re: Where did you mount your rear pegs?

i had one on the right side axle and it was fairly big and always hit the ground in a turn.......... so i took it off and put the smaller one infront of the axle and havent had a problem, the peg on my axle bent my axle a little also.....

Re: Where did you mount your rear pegs?

I just got done mounting a peg on each side in front of the axle, just used the rear hole from the chain guard on the left and then drilled a hole to match on the right. Seems solid. I had a peg on the axle on the left but I didn't like it to much, i think two will be easier to balance. I kept putting all my weight on the peg right under me instead of the real peg in front of me, I could do massive circles though!

I'll let ya know how it turns out, gonna take a friggin week atleast till i can ride again. Gotta wait for my bars and stuff since i broke the stock throttle.

Jon

how do you expect to use the brake with both feet back there?, 2nd and 3rd loop real easy with no brake.

btw, if you get another plastic throttle, slide it to the left of the edge of the bar so when you drop it, it hits the bar instead of the plastic throttle

Good idea, the stock throttle had an end on it so you couldn't push it past the end of the bar unless you cut it off.

As far as looping, I do highchairs on my 400ex without any brakes, just have to be careful. But I plan on putting a handbrake on the fiddy, they aren't hard to make.

Re: Where did you mount your rear pegs?

I just put mine on my axle this weekend. It was a pain to find the longer axle, but I went to my local Honda dealer, and luckily the guy working in the parts department let me rummage through a box of axles.

Re: Where did you mount your rear pegs?

Lucky you. I called my local dealer the other day and asked if they had any street tires for my xr. He said "i don't even know where you would find something like that". I'm like uhh your a dealer you can order tires for it.... From now on I do everything myself, I'm done dealing with dealers for anything.

I did attempt to find a rear axle too. Only real hope I had was a tractor store in town. But they only carried bolts in standard size, I guess tractors are all made in the good old USA.
