Re: Painting front forks

If they aren't dirty or greasy I would just shoot the gloss black over it. Scuffing it up a little bit would be better though. It doesn't take but a minute to take them forks off the bike.

Nate, when are the GR crew and Muskegon crew going to meet and ride? The weather is nice now. Any word yet on Thunderbird nights?

Re: Painting front forks

I haven't put the forks back on so what you are saying is scuf it up and spray it again with the gloss ??

I have to get my 50 running right before I can ride. I'm going over Mikes this weekend and he is going to take a look @ it. Hopefully get it running right soon and we can all go riding.

When I did my forks, frame and swingarm, I just hit them all with some 600 grit sandpaper and then primered them. After that sprayed the gloss black. They seem to be holding up ok. I haven't ridden in a while though. We are trying to find a new house so riding is on the backburner for now.

The good news is, one of the houses we are interested in has 5 acres so I will have a mini motocross track.

Here is a picture of my forks. I have painted the fork guards black now also. They seem to be doing ok to.
