Don't run car oil. Go to your local dealer, buy 1 bottle of Honda GN4 in 10w40, make sure it doesn't have any molybendum or other additives, and use that. It is like $4 a bottle. Drain the oil when it is warm, put the plug back in, and put in .6 liters of oil. There are even volume marks on the side of the bottle with a clear plastic window.

How much do you love the fiddy. Put the good stuff in that you probably run in you street bike. It really doesn`t matter though. Honda designed these engines to survive in 3rd world countries. They can run for a very long time with very little oil, dirty oil, or oil that is years old.

Been riding my fiddy hard everyday for 3 weeks now! Is it time to change the oil? What about the 1 month valve checkup?

I run castrol syntec in my fiddy & my 01 F4i no problems. My f4i just had the valves adjusted at 16k & the technician said the engine was very clean

I was told by someone at Powroll- they deal with aftermarket parts and hop up's for the 50's, that Honda has re-formulated it's HP4 oil and that the new synthetics are harmful to your 50's engine.
I have been running this oil but am looking for other alternatives.
hope this helps u out.

my manual says use .6 of a quart. im using yamaha SJ 10 w30 right now. its supposed to be 10 w40 but its colder out here anyways and the manual says it ok to use in temps 5 F - 90 F. the manual says do not use API SH oils, so make sure you get SJ. and dont get energy conserving oils either. i just run either Yamaha or Honda SJ oil and it works great for me.
