Hey everyone, I tried doing a search for propper compression range on my 83 z and I'm finding different numbers all over the place. Was hoping I could get a clearer range on this. Picked up my z on Saturday for 200$ not running its about 85% complete seems to be leaking oil from every gasket on the top end just wanted to know an accurate compression range so i know what I'm getting into before I tear the motor down change the gaskets and end up wishing I freshend up the top end while it was apart

 

Compression check is more of a comparative diagnostics instead of a definitive one

 

I agree with you on that I was just looking for a ball park figure I haven't tried to fire over the motor yet it just seemed to turn over very very easily and i wanted to do a compression check before i had to take the motor apart twice instead of once efff it I might as well just throw a stage 2 88 kit on it regardless
