CRF50 carb help
i cleaned my carbs and now i cant seem to get my throttle cable or whatever that has a needle that goes on the top of the carb... I tighten it and the throttle sticks wide open... This is because the spring is getting compressed. How do you put that needle in without having your throttle stick wide open??? If you don't anderstand what i mean ill give better detail.

Re: CRF50 carb help
i got it in the grooves right because the little plastic looking slide goes into the carb just so its flush with the top of the carb... but it still has the spring about 3 or 4 centimeters sticking out of the carb so when i try to screw it on it has to get pushed to screw on which therefore compresses the spring, and im new so if there is anyway to post up a picture to help with the explanation just let me know....
Re: CRF50 carb help
well actually i read somewhere else that slid is supposed to go all the way down into the carb but mine stays flushwith the top of the carb with a little spring sticking out and i have probably tried putting it in and sliding the carb around at least 20 times and still cant get it to go in... I dont get it at all... is there a trick or something to it or what. The faster i get this figured out the better im supposed to be putting on a little stunt show with it at a party this weekend and need to get it done.
Re: CRF50 carb help
huh ya i thought so but mine seems to like get stuck and the top of the sleeve stays flush i don't get it
but oh well i hope my fathers friend can fix it if not well time to fork out the money and get it fixed by a professional.. I always have the worst luck with carbs lol Re: CRF50 carb help
i would pull the carb off the bike. then take the sleeve off the needle and jst make sure there is nothing getting in the way and make sure you are putting the sleeve in the right way. if the spring is to compressed it will hold the throttle open, you will have to adjust it on the throttle end to slack it.
Re: CRF50 carb help
spin it around 180 degrees, the slide will go in and stop at flush one way and if you spin it it will go all the way down. Might sound complicayed but its real easy to do, and real easy to screw up. probably the easiest way is to pull it off and assemble it, then put it on the bike.
Re: CRF50 carb help
Just off idle at low rpms she misses. Mid RPMs are good but 3rd gear pinned seams to have a miss... she has the 88 Takegawa setup and I do not think I am hearing the rev limiter.
First thought is jetting. Bike was setup for running at deals gap and now she's in Florida so there is a slight difference in elevation. Dunno if it's enough to cause carb issues or not.
Ideas?
