Paint Question

So this is directed more towards Ryan (moore) because I saw it done on his bike. I got a 125cc pit bike free from my brother and it's time to paint it and I want to do the "sponge paint" like ryan has on the forks of his supermoto, the bike that has the front brakes lock up in his video. I was just wondering if it is just sponge painting or another technique. I think he also has it on the tripple of one of his 50's. Im thinking of doing a silver, white and blue metalic over a black base. I can throw down some pretty good paint so it's. no challange but I don't want to waste money trying to get the look I want. Appreciate any help, thanks!!
