Aftermarket Air Filter Preference?

While my bike was apart, I decided now's a good time to do a cleaning on the filter since it was a used bike when I got it and I haven't done it yet... Pulled it apart and that **** was dirty... I put some cleaner on it, let sit and went to rinse off and seems to starting to fall apart.

So it's time for a filter... I'd like an aftermarket one, just to get rid of the air box... Is this wise since it may run lean if I do? Is there any recommendations on new filters (stock-like, cone or cylinder)?

Thanks!

Cool... I got UNI filter cleaner kit already so might as well get a filter too.

I need one with a 35mm opening, correct?

Re: Aftermarket Air Filter Preference?

Found some information online and figured I'd post it here. 35mm = 1.37" so according to below, won't fit. I just bought a TBR filter for a stock 50 carb... Went with them mainly cause I'd rather have a blue filter over red...

CRF50 stock is 16mm carb or 1 inch ID air filter
CRF70 stock or 18mm-20mm carb is 1 1/4 inch ID air filter
SDG stock and most imports, 22mm carb is 1 1/2 inch ID air filter
24mm-26mm carb is 1 3/4 inch ID air filter
