Air leaks at manifold paper gaskets ?

What is the best way to keep from getting air leaks at the intake manifold? I have heard allot of guys talk about getting them on 50's.

My carb has a O-ring to seal it to the manifold but that black plastic spacer between the manifold and the head has the paper gaskets from TB on both sides.

Should I put a little RTV on these paper gaskets to help from getting air leaks? What else can I do?
